I don't have any prejudices towards homosexuals. I respect them. I just think marriage should be between people of opposite sex. I wouldn't apply to join a ladies football team, and then cry discrimination when they turn me down.

This woman should hang her head in shame, filthy pig.

Considering AH is usually completely wrong with polls and referendums, is it safe to say that we will have a no vote?

It will be a 'On' vote.

And if they said "you can go off and join the men's team, but you can't call it a team, you can't wear uniforms, you can only play on Tuesdays and there's a couple of other little differences but it should be enough for you and stop kicking up a fuss", would you that be grand? Coz that's what you're doing.

If you vote NO are you no better than the guy who randomly punches a gay man outside a gay bar??

There is an implication that if you vote NO you're homophobic.I think a fair chunk of the population is irritated by this.

Being homophobic is not synonymous with physically assaulting people. Were people who voted against letting people of different races marry in America racist, or could you only be a racist if you were a card carrying KKK member and attended at least 3 cross burnings? Homophobia is a prejudice, and someone may act on that by assaulting someone, or they might vote against someone's rights.

But if someone can come up with a non-homophobic reason to vote no, we're all ears. So far, nobody has done so.

If you vote No you are saying to every single lesbian and gay man in Ireland that you do not consider them equal to yourself. That they are worth less than you. Forever.

I'd rather be punched outside a gay bar.
(this has happened so I know how it feels - plus one is allowed to punch back in self defense)

I read it was the rain caused the material to come away quicker. Nothing sinister or bureaucratic about it.

Was it torn down or designed that way? Could be wrong, but think it was done in such a way that it would biodegrade over time? Or wind and rain? Or a d1ck move by some group.

It was the rain, the guys who put it up sent an update about it.

It was single people fed up with couples shoving our faces in their happiness. The bastards.

    Or so I hear.

Each side is afraid to play dirty for fear of alienation their supporters.

    Boring referendum.

You would not be the same in your disapproval of gay men, but would you be better? I don't think so. A no vote would actually be more devastating to the human rights of the gay man than a punch in my opinion (unless the punch went horribly wrong and resulted in life-long damage.....then it would be somewhat similar).

No. We're voting as to whether or not homosexuals, who are equal citizens like everyone else in a republic, should be allowed to marry each other. It doesn't mean we think less of them if we vote no.

    Jesus H.

Yes, yes it does. If you can't afford them the same rights, then it means EXACTLY that.

Are you missing some basic reasoning skills here? :(

There is no right to marry.

There is no right to marry.

    Is that right?!

So heterosexuals have no more right to marry than homosexuals. Is that what you're saying?

Think you've got yourself confused there mate.
