I'm referring to some media I have listened to on the radio. I'm sure there are loads of muppets posting vile stuff on this and other forums for both sides and my advise would be not to sink to their level.

So if it exists on both sides why has it encouraged you to vote no?

Frankly any nastiness on the yes side does not compare to nastiness and the damage that comes from the no side. See Lavlad above.

You think saying any family that does not have a married mother and father is not the ideal doesn't have an affect on all those children being raised outside the traditional family. The no side are spouting this on a daily basis. That is far more nasty and damaging than anything the yes side have said.

The average gay person doesn't want a whole political football around this issue. They just want to be able to get married. Unfortunately this is a consequence for trying to achieve that. Don't punish all gay people because you don't like the politics around it. This more than a political issues, its a personal and human issue. The passing of this referendum means a great deal to many people including myself, don't let pettiness get in the way of that.

c montgomery were you really going to vote yes? Really, really truly, swear on the bible and all that bollocks? Somehow I think not!

100 % I was , swear on whatever you want

I'm not posting here anymore as I'll only get people worked up and the issue is not really close to my heart. No offence meant to anyone.

    Best of luck to all

    Hmmmm, point proven !!

So you come into a thread, spout something about changing your vote based on the fact that yes voters aren't grovelling and/or taking abuse on the chin and when people get annoyed, it's a point proven?

If someone comes at you with a knife and you manage to stab them instead to get away, are you going to side with the person who had the knife originally?

Well, yes, but we all know humans in general are a pretty nasty lot.

We'll just have to wait a few years for the most bigoted generation to die off, and run it again.

If its not close to your heart, just don't vote. We don't need extra no votes.

You value plamas above honesty it seems . Grow up - You think I give a monkeys about humouring you ?

The referendum will pass , if not this time then pretty soon afterwards just like divorce . And as well as denying our fellow citizens a bit of happiness that cost us nothing we will end looking like tits once again .

If your vote was that easily swayed you were never voting yes in the first place .

The no side were the best weapon of the yes campaign due to their weak argument however the yes side in their treatment of the no side have lost my vote.

Amazing how common this allegedly is with this referendum. It'd be interesting to find out if it's been a factor in previous referendums.

So, you were going to vote Yes because of the weak argument of the No side, but when everyone pointed out that the No side had no strong argument and in the absence of a strong argument their vote must be borne of prejudice you saw the light and will now vote No.

Interesting. I can just imagine you now, stuck in a loveless marriage but voting No to divorce because you didn't like the Yes side.

C montogmery's posts remind me a lot of how people always try to blame rape victims and defend rapists motives. everything is always the victims fault, she was too drunk, her clothes were too revealing.. much the same really

Good post, I think I'm most annoyed with the debate and politics of the issue than the actual issue.
Who knowd, Might change my mind back b4 election.
Best of luck and ignore any bile spouted by yes/no side, life's too short.

Amazing you say things like this after your initial posts. How about you spend as much time telling off bigots like lavdad instead of blaming us for protecting ourselves

The only point being proven is your retarded reason for voting no.

I was going to vote yes however now I'm voting no, mainly because of the way the yes side seems to portray anyone with an opinion different to their own as homophobic or some sort of neanderthal.

This is simply a transparent tactic by the no side to try and falsely convince the yes side that they should keep their voices down because they are putting people off. In reality they want the yes side to keep their voices down because they know very well that they are encouraging others to take notice of the issue and vote yes too. 'Reverse psychology' at its best ;)

So I say that people who are sitting on the fence in relation to the issue are being swayed to the no side because of comments and bullying by the yes side and I'm compared to a rapist sympathiser..... and everyone agrees!!

Think a lot of people on this thread need to grow up, mature a bit and not let things get to then so much.

Why shouldn't a man and a child be able to engage in sex acts or get married if both parties are consenting? Shouldn't it be nobody else's business? The logic to the yes argument leads to the conclusion that these questions are as valid as the "why shouldn't two members of the same gender be allowed marry?" proposition to which there is supposedly no reasonable objection.

    No.
You said you were voting yes and that the yes side in response to the no side made you change your mind whilst ignoring the fact the no side are far worse than the yes.
Also, you are not being compared to that, the point was it's the same principle. Don't change what you're saying and act as though it was like that the whole time just because it doesn't suit you anymore.

Again I find it concerning that a rational person that you seem to be, changes their mind based on the " tactics" of a side. The underlying proposal is there and has value irrespective of the antics of zealots.

A referendum( or rather voting in one ) is not a game of piss the other side off.

The irony is too much for me...youre the one who's voting no out of spite because we didn't respond kindly to open bigotry. But okay cool..You obviously can't be convinced. I don't believe you were ever voting yes, I don't care anymore.

I cant think of a good reason to vote no. Its about all citizens been seen as equal before the law. Children is a separate issue but I personally don't see a problem with a same sex couple raising a child as long as that child is given a loving and caring upbringing as it would get in a traditional family setup

How about you just go read the thread? Because if you're gonna start all this bullcrap, there's pages of people trying the same thing. You'd be best going to read those instead, instead of wasting time going over it again.
