I am extremely sceptical as to the amount of money to be won on scratch cards.
Anyone ever win a decent amount on them i.e. 10 K or more?

The most I've ever won was €100. (back in 2005)

I am with you tayto when you say you're sceptical.

I also hate it when I win a fcuking scratch card on the lotto, just gimme the fcuking money instead douche bags.

Someone on here said before that the big prizes tend to be won soon after release then the rest of them are just the small jobs.
It's true though, the most I've won on a one euro is 4euro

My cousin won £100,000 on a scratch card up north a few weeks ago. I don't think our cards go anywhere near that much.

I started doing the Lotto online a few months ago and they give you the cash instead of the scratch card. To be honest I'd rather the scratch card than a euro or two back.

I work in a shop and a fella bought one for his mam and she won 10,000. other than that, the biggest I've ever seen is 100euro, and even those are once in a blue moon

Girl in work won five hundred on one that her workmates put in her birthday card. Part of me would be delighted for her but the greedy bastard in me would be thinking "If only I had scratched it myself"

I think that's true. If there are new tickets out, the first batch is ALWAYS brilliant. when the extravaganza ones came out (20euro p/ticket), every customer was always winning their 20euro back, or even a 50ero. now though, barely any winners

Started doing it myself online a few months ago too, terrible website tbh (well, I use it on my phone most of the time, so maybe that's the problem)

Needless to say I've not had many wins to find that one out either way, any way, IMO what they should be doing instead of the poxy scratch cards (imo) is giving away a quick pick ticket instead.

when you check your numbers on the website there is a slight delay when you have won something

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 387 ✭✭berger89

whatever about scratch cards..but when it comes to the lotto--->if you have a set numbers for it each week, you're better off doing it in the bookies. odds are "literally" thousands better than if you did it in shop

In Nigeria, how do you know if you've really won the lottery?

Can't stand scratch cards, mainly because its always some oul one in the shop holding up the Q while she has the shop assistant running back and forth for scratch cards, making her mind up on the spot which ones she wants by looking at them closely to assess if they're 'lucky' or not.

The things are a con at the end of the day, the game is rigged to take €1 off you and return you maybe 70c if you're 'lucky'. Its a tax on stupidity because even if you have a few wins if you keep on playing over a lifetime you're always going to lose about 30% of the money you put in. It is literally giving your money away in exchange for some kind of short term buzz.

I won £750 about 15 years ago and took my girlfriend to London with the money and where she proceeded to spend it for me.

Fool that I was, I married her.

    Haven't won a bob since...

I think by law, they have to have some scratchcards with €100k on it if that's the top prize that's advertised. I think they'll only put it on something like 1 in 100,000 cards though.

My friend's mother won £10,000. Going back about 20 years ago there though.

The whole idea of scratch cards is for the National Lottery to make money so the prizes paid out are always going to be less than the money taken in. Hardly a con.

Scratch cards are like an Idiot tax.

I won €250 once. My scratch card luck has been crap ever since. I don't buy them as much as I used to. Dying to get one now though. I'm feeling lucky!

so the national lottery is increasing the costs of doing a line by 25% plus an extra 2 numbers being added cutting down chances of winning to near impossible, what business would get away with a 25 % increase in costs to consumers the english lottery increased its costs by 100% and got away with it
these lotteriesare now taking the punters for suckers and mugs i have been doing lottery for years and will now reduce my weekly donation by 100% when new rules come into force next month, the new company running lottery has had problems with outlets lottery machines breaking downs this last year on numerous occassinons and expect to get away with fleecing the punters for substandard workmanship when an post ran it these breakdowns were unheard of

Idiots complaining about a rise in the voluntary idiot tax. This isn't the first time they lengthened the odds and raised prices, and it won't be the last.

The back of the card states the odds. I think the hampers and roses had the best amount of overall prizes in the past. The most I won was €25,
