Decided to count up my coin jars tonight. Over the years i've kept putting it off by adding more jars.

Anybody want to guess how much there is, in an attempt to make it less boring. It is mainly coppers.

Have to have it done by 11pm or the wife will kill me for making a mess of the kitchen.

There's machines for these things you know.

You could make another type of mess in the kitchen too.

Could you keep us updated with photos of the stacks that you build? You are counting and stacking them?

    This is all very exciting.

I think you need to re-evaluate your life when this is how you spend a Friday night and when you put a time limit so your wife won't give out.
Not forgetting that you felt the need to start a forum post about your escapade.

Okay, okay, I got this. Eh... Wait, is that coin there - 11th row down, about 7 coins from the left - a 20c or a €2? There's a bit of a shine, I can't make it out properly. My answer heavily depends on it.

3 shillings and a half crown

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭Hidalgo

    €483.89

I build up all my change in a 4.5L Martell Cognac bottle so I'm an experienced hand. Usually adds up to between 400-500 euro.

Rrrrright, that's not what I was expecting. I need to have a bit of a rethink now. Carry on lads I'll catch up. I was gonna go out tonight but I've cancelled the babysitter now, have to figure this out.

Have you got bags OP? If you don't and are just going to dump it into the counting machines that charge 9.5%, don't bother counting. Too much for Tesco self-service tills, esp now they have a tiny slot (ooh matron....)

Start by separating into separate values! Then make collections of 100 x 5c etc, as appropriate for the bags
