Im not a doctor tbh. I wish.

Its really bending rather than breaking the law and Ive literally never had an accident in 14 years of claim free driving.

If its that much of an emergency, the emergency services should also be on their way. If you are subtely telling us that you are a Doctor, then you should first of all get a bluetooth device for the car for phone calls. Also, FFS, who sends an emergency e-mail. A few posts ago, time was money, which is it?

Not a member of the emergency services either I guess.

No, no, it's definitely breaking it, not bending it or misinterpreting it. You are knowingly doing something that you know to be illegal. You may feel that it shouldn't be or that it's not a big deal but you are still breaking the law.

Not sure what the 14 years of claim free driving has to do with anything, neither has my tailgating brother in law (think he mentioned his 25+ years before) but i certainly wouldn't get into a car with him based on that fact, or at all based on my limited experience.

Taken on my commute this morning.

It's just a bunch of ignorant self important asshats. You can see the estate went through an amber light which is fair enough, but the three cars after that? You can say that the Mini driver was being a bit if a twat, but the Focus and Audi were wreckless. The light was green for pedestrians and the Audi went through it. I actually couldn't believe it.

These people knew damn well the lights were red and just sailed on through without given anybody else any thought.

You can also see the amount of young children using this junction to go to school. This attitude is pretty disgusting.

I suppose it depends on what youd class as an emergency.

Its not really breaking the law tbf. Do you think people should be allowed use GPS. Or for that matter, look at the speedo??

Your more than welcome to have a go in my car anytime and im sure that youd feel safe and sound :)

I have no issue with GPS but it should be set up before the engine is started with the voice directions activated - as I do and my family members do. If for some reason you go wrong and need to look at the directions manually then park up somewhere safe and look at them. The time to look is not at a red light which may or may not turn green at any moment.

It's not like I'm checking whatsapp for the latest shared video or images tbf. Their genuine emergencies and like I said, I often use the GPS on the phone particularly if im on route to a housecall emergency so i dont see the difference

Anyway i dont see why everyones getting there knickers in a twist and this is rapdily going off topic :(

Are you a plumber or locksmith by any chance? Maybe a vet?

Just can't think of an Emergency that would allow you to use your phone if you are not a member of the Emergency services. Are you?

Someone could or would die, or suffer serious injury.

Money is not one, but if you have that much money on the line get a handsfree bluetooth, hell, it can even read your mails out to you and you can pull over for that imagined emergency that apparently frequents your life.
Its not really breaking the law tbf.
It is, are you honestly telling me that when you do something illegal, it's not really breaking the law, what do you think the phrase means?
Do you think people should be allowed use GPS. Or for that matter, look at the speedo??
My GPS has loud vocal instructions and my speedo is on my dash where I can see it while I observe surronding conditions. Are you seriously comparing that to sending an e-mail

I'd rather not, the fact that you fail to comprehend the meaning of the basic phrase "breaking the law", I would worry that anything as complicated as a road sign which does not have a dictionary definition beside it or that you can't google on your phone while driving would be missed. Thank you though, very friendly of you.

Not sure if it's worse in Cork then any other part of the country, I live in Cork and it is really bad would be unusual in a day not to see some incredibly dangerous examples and lately people parking illegally in the City seems to just be rampant not sure if they fire all the traffic wardens or something :S. What really grinds my gears is when someone breaks the lights and ends up stuck in a yellow box in front of you making sure that no one can go anywhere when they have a green...
What I would say though is it definitely isn't so much of a problem when you cross the boarder, with the yellow to green light change seems to make all the difference, people are starting to move from greens before they're fully changed so generally breaking red lights is a lot more risky there.
Yes I've noticed this in England as well What it means is that RED really means RED. Fail to stop on amber and you are likely to find yourself embedded in somebody who has moved off on amber/green.
Plus the amber time seems shorter than here so you only drive on if you can't stop safely in the few seconds available.
    Not a bad system IMHO.
