Two very different route to NYC the last two days.

    This was yesterday:

    And today:

Are these routes based on the direction of the Jet Stream?

I have never ever seen a plane from western Europe go north east when travelling to eastern U.S.

The SNN-EWR UA24 didn't take the same route as UA22 though...

Heading for the BEL VOR, and then vectored to their Atlantic entry point.

Happens three or four times per month

Rouge did it this morning as well

and that means that the early-afternoon EIN flights will probably do the same.

EIN 125 did the same - a lot of flights routing up towards Iceland for today's crossing:

That happened to me once on EIN125 and it was 'frustrating' to have spent three hours commuting down from Belfast only to fly back up over it in 15 minutes! Gahhhhh!

About three years ago I was flying from cork to malaga, and on the return, the flight diverted to Shannon. So once we arrived into Shannon, we had to take the horrible N20 back down to cork airport before getting in our car and driving all the way up to clare again, past shannon. Painful.

Anyway, if them flight paths are taken, would BFS-EWR be a shorter journey than DUB-EWR, despite Dublin actually being closer to Newark?

I see on flight radar now Aer Lingus EI-EAV is in Bangor Airport in the US. This doesn't seem right? can anyone shed any light in it? Do they have scheduled flights there now??

Came to the same conclusion right there when I found the EIN13T callsign used, which is EI137 DUB-BOS then I checked the Boston arrival table and there's the conclusion.

How long a delay would this stop be?

Very severe. Its still on the ground in bangor, already 8:40 and the arrival is scheduled at 4:05
I don't know the reason for this diversion but I suspect it wasnt fuel as the 757 from SNN-BOS made it just fine.

I'd say there would be more of a load from Dublin.
Or the Shannon flight could have got lucky with the weather

There probably was a better load from Dublin, no doubt. Its also a far larger aircraft and the A330 has a nice range. I very much doubt it was fuel related. If it was weather related, how come its been on the ground for 4 hours?

Two emergencies on the runway at Boston caused diversions.

Don't have much beyond that now.
