I see JP McManus is in flight in his chopper. Though, it seems to have swung by Dublin Airport and back out again. Perhaps diverted?

Nope, it landed, went to gates or wherever choppers go, and then took off again. Kepts its radar on the whole time.

Delays and holding at DUB now due to mist thickening to fog.

    Wild variations in RVR's.
    Touchdown-800m
    Midpoint 1300m
    Stopend 275m

That explains the "the chase" around SORIN at the mo...

    FR7157 diverting to Shannon.
    FR119 diverting to Shannon.

SORIN is a hold pattern, right?....

It is, heard it several times over ATC.
Around 3/4 loops now, 20mins hold at least. Large amount of Inbounds due to the Rugby and it being the summer season, bit of disrupting possible.

They are well established in the hold, won't be long now before they make an approach. Assuming the fog doesn't worsen, they will get into Dublin fine. If it does, they will get in somewhere fine, maybe not Dublin though!

FR1457 looks to be for SNN now too

    FR1457 (RYR75PW) BRU-DUB also diverting to Shannon.

Meanwhile FR7157 and FR119 are now on the ground in SNN.

For any of the newer or inexperienced members to this thread, low visibility means that further separation is needed between aircraft, meaning the airport can take less arrivals in eg an hour. The delay was 20 minutes at one stage a while ago. Some aircraft would not have the holding fuel available for this, as they need to guarantee that if they make a go-around they still have more than enough fuel to make to to a diversion airport.

Massive improvement in RVR's, all above 1000m now.
Delays may be reduced if it sticks.
Fog is very unpredictable though, it can roll in and roll out in minutes.

Guessing those FR flights will be back up from SNN in a while with pax on board, they don't tend to put them on coaches at this hour but never know I suppose.

Atm, FR7157 and FR119 are scheduled to fly back to DUB, no info on FR1457 yet.

Edit: FR1457 also scheduled to fly back to DUB.

Meanwhile at SNN, FR1457 and BE4601 (Special rugby charter) were racing for SNN, but FR won:P

FR4845 doing its holding near wales?

Whats EIN58R/EI587 doing? Diverting, where to though? Cork?

Aircraft holding now at over 30,000ft. Unusual is it not?

Also, is a CATIII approach common? Just heard ATC clearing someone for it, first I've heard of it!

Just heard a Ryanair on to ATC worrying about Stansted closing before they can get back over there due to the delays.

FR271 (RYR70WQ) and FR8036 (RYR18EZ) both look to be diverting to Shannon.

That makes it No.6 for Shannon, and No.8 diversion from DUB so far.

God, I thought DUB could deal with anything, why any need for any other airport :D

    EIN49T/EI499 diverting to Cork.

Aer Lingus don't seem to be selecting their usual preference, Belfast International, mist at 6000m there, too risky?

    EI499 / EIN49T going to Cork

4 inbound SNN including a scheduled arrival. Won't see any EI diversions as probably no EI ground staff on

I see weston based Baron 58P just landed, he was in hold at KLY for the last 20min

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,488 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

4 ryanairs now on approach to SNN, only one of them a scheduled service. They will be joining the other 2 diverted Ryanairs on the ground, and another based Ryanair aircraft.

That makes 8 ryanairs so far at SNN!

    Omni, american troops on board.

What code is used for the expected approach time. ATC just gave a pilot an expected approach time of 2323.

    "We're happy where we are"

SNN approach: "You're one of the few this evening"

    "We don't like to complain"
