Does 'Use by' date on food include that date?

Google yields nothing on this (that I can find) but I have some lovely smoked salmon that has a 'use by' date of 8th Jan.

Can I still eat it tomorrow?

Do the sniff test! But seriously, I would eat it tomorrow if it smelled and tasted normal but bin what's not used by end of tomorrow.

A wise man once said "Why eat tomorrow what you can eat today?".

    QED.

Use by date includes the date. I wouldn't recommend eating anything after its use by date as normally use by dates are on highly perishable goods that could lead to food poisoning. If it's best before then you can eat it after the date no bother once it looks grand to eat e.g. No mould, funky smell etc
