January nintendo direct

It hasn't been 100% confirmed yet, but the mutterings round the net and the fact we always get one around this time of year speaks volumes. So what are we all expecting? I'm going for


- 'New' 3DS launch in the west
- Majoras mask 3D launch, and a trailer
- smash bros DLC stuff
- e-shop stuff in general
- monster hunter 4 stuff
- whatever we got waiting for Q1/Q2.

And how bout some more virtual console stuff on WiiU. Why is it that there was way, way more on the good old Wii? N64 and that?

Would love the addition of N64 on Virtual Console, don't think we'll see it for a while but even mentioning it would be great.

There'll probably be a good chunk dedicated to Majora's Mask, unless it actually get's a direct of it's own, which is possible.
Starfox stuff is very doubtful, Miyamoto is unlikely to show too much after the initial announcement of it so it'll be drip fed information I would guess, which I don't actually mind.

I know the Metroid announcement's unlikely, but I can hope. Only 5 months to E3. Maybe there.

I need a new Blastcorps game.
The original on the N64 is one of my favourites of the generation.
Also, I would really love to see Super Mario World in the 3DS rendered in 3D, after the excellent job done with Sonic.
And, while I am dreaming, a simple port of Mario 64 , no gameplay changes like they did with the DS version, but rendered in proper 3D would be stunning.

Well the DS port of mario 64 is awful.
Well no its not awful as a game, its mario 64, but playing it with the D-pad or that awful virtual analogue stick kills it for me.

Thought it was just me, just couldn't get into it at all because of the control scheme. Played it a couple of times and never returned.

It is, but its still digital controls, so it doesn't play much better sadly.

I doubt we'll see it coming out this year, most likely in 2016. But they've surprised us with this kind of thing before!

Given that these 'New' 3DS's are shipping now, the release date of the actual console can't be far. Which means their will almost certainly be a nintendo direct :cool:

Well there is that fan remake which I expect to be shut down soon.

As for that email, I didn't get one but I gess it must just be for the non-XL version to try and get sales of it. Is there a price for it?

If Jan 26th is correct for the New 3DS, that's my next purchase confirmed. It better not be overpriced. Considering the Ambassador edition, I would say 180-200 would be RRP.

Just realized the Japanese imported New 3DS is 170 euro on Amazon. Maybe it'll work out around 160.

I'm thinking 170 for the regular, 200 for the standard. Hopefully a decent trade in offer for my existing XL as well.

Where did you get that date from? The leaked GameStop dates for the US was Feb 13th I thought?
