Went to Elphin. Not a great trade. Sold 48.5 kg €112.

I saw some nice 56kg struggle to make €120

So would you reckon Fermoy is a better or worse place to sell ? I only ask as I'd often sell in Fermoy. Sometimes you can get a right good price, but other times they could try and skin me ? I haven't been there since October.

Spoke with a butcher today, who said the word on the street is that lamb is heading to €6.00 by next week. Anyone else hear this ? Fingers crossed eh !!!

I kept all my ewe lambs this year as I am building my flock. Am sorely tempted to sell a few of them now. Bit of a dilemma, sell the heavier ones and get good prices but I might not be left with the best hoggets. Sell the lighter ones maybe? Will have to get the scales out and bring in the feckers.

You'll have a lot less problems going forward if you keep the heavier ones, these performed the best on your own land and worm challenges etc IMO

5.60 Up to 23kgs ICM Camolin tomorrow. The marts were sluggish last week for heavy butchers lambs, seems 130 topped it no matter what the weight.

Sold a batch of lambs on Monday in fermoy. 49kg and I got €122 a head. Saw some make €130 but they needed to be 58kg for that money. Good money paid for culls. Big lowlands made up to €160. Ewes with lambs at foot made between €150-€200

Nice time to be selling culls but you'd have to be keeping them empty over the winter. Maybe a nice option for ewes scanned empty or who lost their lambs?

Sold the ewes that scanned empty last week (only 5, but everything was going into the shed, and twas easier to be rid of em)

Got 114euro average for em, average weight 35kg

Amazing the cull ewes are worth more the. Finished lambs  and in some cases more then ewes with lambs at foot also.

Heard from factory guy trade will be good until Easter, not able to predict what it will be like after that.

That €6 price target was a month ago, unfortunately never materialised. Just shows the unpredictable nature of sheep. Hopefully the trade will stay good until Easter. If prices stay the same, guys who bought expensive stores last autumn may struggle to turn a profit.
