    Hi guys,

Im moving down to Cork to work for 8/9 months from next week.
Im looking to join a gym with good weights facilities something like RAW or Flyfit macken ST. would be ideal.
Not fussy about fancy facilities just looking for somewhere with plenty of barbells etc.
Im staying in or around the Douglas area.
But would travel for the right facilities.

    Any help greatly appreciated

    John

I find the Mardyke good but I haven't trained anywhere else in Cork so can't really compare it. It has 4 deadlift platforms with bumper plates, 4 power racks and 4 benches with plenty of plates, dumbbells that go up to 50kg or so, stretching area, various machines and other bits.

The major issue is that it can be packed, especially in the evening (don't know about mornings). €490 for a year for the gym/pool, or €640 for all the facilities. It's opened from 7.00am - 10.30pm weekdays, 9.00am - 7.00pm Saturday, and 10.00am - 7.00pm.

Dennehys are just about to open a gym in Douglas, sounds like something you would be looking for! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dennehys-Health-Fitness-Douglas/727848970655882

Not in Douglas but only 15 mins or so by car. It sounds like exactly what you're looking for. There's loads of bars and squat racks, you can drop stuff all over the place, and there's usually a big bucket of chalk around somewhere.

It was never busy when I was there although I never went during peak hours.
