Happy new year to all you Funky Homosapien's.

2015 is upon us already. 2014 was a year that I slept on with regards to music. I need to get stuck into all the albums I missed during the year (Freddie Gibbs, Run the Jewels, Uncommon Nasa, Mick Jenkins, RatKing, Lil Herb, Open Mike Eagle amongst some others)

If anyone wants to name their favourite album of 2014 so I can check it out I'd appreciate it!

I'll kick off 2015 with the new Kanye song - Only One

I like the content but I am not a fan of the auto tune. I hope it's not a sign of what is to come with his impending album.

Haha, when I was writing my post above I was thinking about adding in Cecil Otter, but then thought better of it. He's been working with some bands recently so not sure if he has any focus on his solo album.

    Happy New Year!

2014 was an awesome year for music and 2015 has a lot to live up to.

My favourite album of 2014 was at first a close call but then I remembered that Flicker was on it. Plus the album brings back great memories of seeing them 4 times, meeting my favourite rapper in my hotel and hanging out with one of my best mates in Camden after he moved to London last year

Apathy put up this preview video of the 3 albums he's releasing this year. The one with O.C sounds class.

I don't know what others I'm looking forward to, well I probably do but I'm still in a state of Christmas caused confusion where you aren't even sure what day it is because you've been off work for two weeks and ate too much chocolate*

Um, Doomtree, which I still need to pre order!

And anything from the label Mello Music Group that I've discovered over the last couple months. Been working my way through Apollo Browns catalogue that I bought after hearing him.

    *drank too much beer.

Have you caught up on Oddisee and Diamond District from Mello yet? MMG are pretty much hit rather than miss. The few things to overlook are Black Opera, not really my cup of tea.
Check out L'Orange, if you like Apollo Brown you'll dig him.

I got an Oddisee album ages ago but haven't gave it a proper listen, same for L'Orange, seen a few vids on YouTube and need to check him out more.

I really like Apollos production and his Dice Game album is awesome.

Got Ugly Heroes CD on the way so I'll make a big Mello playlist for when I'm training!

Tanya Morgan new EP for anyone interested: https://soundcloud.com/tanyamorgan/sets/12-minutes-at-karriems Best release of 2015!!!111!!!1!

Albums announced that I'm interested in

The Game - The Documentary II (First one was a classic, not expecting much from this tbh but surely he'll ensure his debut album's name isn't tarnished too bad with this)
    New Joey Badass
    New Lupe
    New Ghostface and Czarface 2

And then I'll be very happy if these artists actually release something in 2015:

    Cannibal Ox
    Pete Rock & Primo
    One Be Lo
    J-Live
    L*Roneous
    Big Boi
    Elzhi
Jay Elect aka Detox V. 2.0
    Nas

Man I listened to a few Black Opera tracks on YouTube and have to say I really like them. Some of the Christmas iTunes vouchers could go to those guys, tho I much prefer physical copies so I'll see what price amazon have on them.

For those that don't like Aesop Rock, stop reading post now. A 2 track EP was released just before Christmas on Vinyl only as part of some package figurine deal thing.

But the tracks are now available to listen to online, and indeed buy on iTunes or what have you.

passionweiss posted them and gave a little write up/introp to the EP

The Tanya Morgan EP recommended earlier in thread by Talib Fiasco is dope. Real dope. I've had the pleasure of seeing these guys live, and they were decent enough. But thier albums and EPs are excellent.
It's only 12 minutes long but well worth it, great 'nod' to Peanut Butter Wolf on there as well.

Absolutely loving the Joey Bada$$ album, best thing to come out of New York in a long time IMO. Loving the few Biggie references throughout the album. You can feel his influences throughout it as well, a few songs remind me a bit of some of the early duck down releases, think he even gives a nod to early Outkast on escape 120? The highlights for me are Paper Trails and Hazeus View.

Eligh is a rapper/producer who has been around for years now. His album last year with The Grouch was great, but from what he has released this year, things are really starting to fall into place for him.

    Here's his latest track:

Looking forward to Travis Scott's debut album Rodeo the most this year been an OG fan of his for a good few years and can gurantee his album wont disapoint. The 2 tracks hes dropped for it so far (high fashion & have been fire + after he said it is better than Days Before Rodeo which was one of the best projects of 2014 I can't wait. Kanye, Big sean, Bon Iver, James Blake, Jay Z, Drake, Meek Mill, Weekend, PND & Young Thug all worked on tracks with him for it so will be nice to see what ones make the cut.

Decent beats with solid stuff from Vast and Vordul, DOOM verse is cool too. Looking forward to this (and maybe a live show?)
