Champion Court is a plot job all over no way has this horse regressed so much in the last year or so. Has to be dropped down to around 135 after that last race at Chelt. One to watch out for whatever race he goes for at the festival.

I think Dara Tango is well capable of more than he has shown too. Will definitely be backing him at the festival if he goes there

Western Boy for the Grand Annual perhaps.

I'm sure Gordon Elliott has a couple of nice handicap blots he's doing fantastic this season, I'd love to know what price he is for top trainer he could be a nice price without the top 3 and has a very good team of horses this year.

Flaxen Flare is one I'm keeping my eye on has run well last two festivals winning the Fred Winter and a respectable 5th in the County last year and hasn't been seen since beating Plinth lto and that was a nice performance considering the fall he'd had before that when Davy Condon had the injury.

Does not go up a hill imo

If the form is right (suspect due to the ground) artic fire is the biggest cert in a handicap if he only gets 10lb or less for his last run.that form wins any handicap by miles.

flaxen flare is a plot horse alright

Hmm could be there although willie has mentioned the champ hurdle as an outsider?

3 time course winner. Also ran a cracker in 2nd behind Sir Des Champs in the Jewson a few years back.

    Blackmail for the County Hurdle.

Would also like to see Moscow Mannon in the Grand Annual, think he'll be a different beast on better ground.

Couldn't be trusting that form. Didn't the pensioner Captain Cee Bee split HF and Jezki in similar conditions last year? I expect Jezki to come on at least 10lbs at Cheltenham especially on decent ground.

How is Flaxen flare a plot horse? His official rating is 150 which is as high as its ever been and he has been heavily campaigned in his career so further improvment from that mark is hard to envisage.

If you base the ratings based on your eye then the new one will win the champion hurdle.

I have never ever lost a big lay bet,at the moment my big lay is silvinaco conti for the gold cup.I napped the winner at 50/1 last year and in my opinion the lexus is very strong on shocking ground .kempton was full of non stayers on a flat track.if the winner of the king George wins the gold cup I know nothing about rating horses.

I'll ask again, where did you nap LW at 50s? Was it on here?

Also, did you not lay Vatour in the Supreme?

Oh good grief thats only a few months ago. You deserve humiliation for a ridiculous statement like that in fairness.

You'd have to imagine that lads like Martin and Elliot, who always do well in the most valuable handicaps, will have a few. I thought Dara Tango got the absolute perfect ride from Ruby in the pertemps qualifier over Christmas. First four qualify, he comes fourth. Job done, put him away and I'll be backing him come March if he lines up.

I hate calling people out but when you make ridiculous statements you deserve it.

One horse caught my eye over Xmas battle hymn of Charles Byrnes owned by the same syndicate that had solwhit.
Ran a race full of promise on its debut over hurdles despite being quite free she is entered in a maiden hurdle this wknd so if she won that might sneak into a Fred winter could be completely wrong and might not even be on the agenda for Cheltenham.

She was trained on the flat by john Murphy who had thousand stars before he went to willie and improved so much so hopefully Charles could repeat the trick. Thousand stars was also quite free in his early days for john Murphy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Bury Down The Hatchet

Incidentally enough, Byrnes has just given the name Rhymers Club to a Yeats 4yo out of a sister to Solwhit. May be a bit early for a Cheltenham plot but one to watch nonetheless.

It was actually Lar Byrne who brought Thousand Stars over from France as far as I can recall

flaxen flare isn't a plot horse, he's 21 pounds higher then when he won the fred winter. think he'd run well enough off his current mark again in the county but how can he be a plot horse.

On form the Gold Cup is a match and Bobs Worth is the better but I would be worried of his style of running on this ground. On ratings my selection has no chance but the drying non holding ground will make Lord Windermere 40/1 a better jumper and stronger traveler and has a small chance. In the Triumph Im a big fan of John Quinn and I really like Rutherglen with Noel Fehily up.The ground has come perfect for Cinders And Ashes 25/1 who is the class act in the field but trainers form a worry.Ned Buntline is a horse I have been watching but his price is shocking value was expecting 20/1.He needs a big field to be covered up and a strong pace he will get both today and he a great chance of ending Noel Meades terrible here.

It's some leap going from noting he had a small chance in a post where you mentioned 5 horses to claiming you banked on him Sting! I'd say you could do with drinking a bottle of cop on and going for a NAP!

To nap Irving as a massive lay and my best bet was gold cup winner at 50/1 .

For the lads saying flaxen flares a plot i think you should keep an eye for entries from the same trainer/owner combo in the handicap hurdles at the festival. Theyve got 1 nicely handicapped to my eyes as long as the British handicapper doesn't go overboard.

    Before we
have the shocking Cheltenham nights advice brigade IMO do not ever back a john fergusion horse that has to go up a hill in a top race as they are soft flat horses.

I would be surprised if he didn't have a winner, the way a lot of them travel one is surely going to appreciate the hill, parlour games enjoyed it already this year, and purple bay not that I rate the horse for the champion hurdle but he's run really well this year and is always doing his best work at the finish.

Dell Arca, that was laughable there, wide all the way, stuck in behind horses and then the pretense of trying for a few yards before taking it easy. 5th in the Coral last year..
