If he hasn't signed a contract by the summer and if real want him and he wants to go. There is no way Utd will receive much more than 30 million. Personally I think he will sign a new contract but suggesting 80 million as things stand is nuts.

I think goalkeepers are valued much more by there clubs now than they were a few tears ago. We should know more about it than any club. Schmeichal and Van Der Sar were two of the best in the world during their careers and were invaluable to us. [ see the list of sh*te in we had inbetween.
De Gea is in the top 3-5 keepers in the world. He will be worth 5+ points to any team during a season. If he signs a new contract then I would expect him to comand a transfer fee of 50m+. F.F.S. Bony made in the region of 30m
Who do you replace him with. Loris who will cost 25-30m??. IMO good keepers are irreplaceable.

Liverpool fans might value Sterling at 50+ million.....but that is irrelevant as nobody is going to pay that.

It's perfectly understandable to say you dont want De Gea sold and it would take a huge bid.......but does anybody really think Real Madrid are going to bid 80 million for De Gea?

You are forgetting that there are two clubs involved in any deal. Does anybody really think Manchester United are going to accept a bid of £35m for De Gea?

Of course not, its not like we need the money, £35m is nothing in that regard. His contract may be running down but United still have a lot of bargaining power. If Madrid don't want to pay big money then fine, we don't sell. Simple as that.

The player holds a lot of power when there's not much time left on his contract.

De Gea seems happy enough though doesn't he?

Could all be agent stuff to get him a better contract

Pretty much this. It's a 19m hit over his few years at the club if he's let run down his contract, plus whatever it costs to replace him. Minuscule figures in the grand scheme of things.
I think he will sign a contract anyway whether it's to ensure United get top dollar or to continue where he is.

Thankfully we have had very few lowlights as supporters, but the booing and stuff that Fellaini got for that game against Valencia was a disgrace.

United fans have always been a club that stick by their players through good but more so through the bad times.

I hope we never see a repeat again. Delighted for Fellaini. The abuse and stick he got was never fully merited.

There is some talk/rumours/lies/who knows that United will buy Falcao if his price/wages can be lowered. I would love that. I think he is having a bit of a Fellaini, in that Fellaini had a slow start at the club, but now we would think it was crazy if he was sold.

I think the signs are there that Falcao will come good, he was getting into great positions yesterday, only a matter of time in my opinion.

To be fair any leaks out of United in terms of transfers seem to be majorly curtailed after the Moyes mess .. They could very we'll be working on things behind the scenes with even the top journalists not having a clue.

Haha, remember Moyes was always jetting off in scouting missions around Europe!
Discovering diamonds such as Fellaini and Mata

80 million for a goalie would be rediculous.

    Just get a different goalie.

I wanted Fellaini at United to add a bit of steel,he was good for Everton but even I went WTF when he was playing last season,he looked completely overawed and his game suffered.

One ball he played last week with a first time volleyed pass out wide was something he'd never even attempt last season.

So I presume we will all be cheering City on this afternoon?

Andrei is the most bitter ex player when it comes to comments about Man Utd.

    Yes even worse then Keane.

In fairness he mirrored what 99% of fans said about last weeks performance.

How can they be irreplaceable if Utd have generally always had one, except for maybe 4/5 years between PS and VDS?

And most of that delay was the belief in Barthez which took some time to shake.

I think United used 8 or 10 different keepers between PS and VDS. Fine we sell De Gea. Name a top keeper we can bring in and put a cost on him

I agree and there's a big enough job as it is to get a settled team. The last thing Utd want to do is replace the keeper.

Someone mentioned lloris as a replacement, we know what spurs are like if he's worth 25m they'll want 40

It would be typical United to sell De Gea and replace him with Lloris at a higher cost :pac:

Match Total Long Balls Accurate Long Balls
Man Utd QPR vs Man Utd 106 55
Man Utd Burnley vs Man Utd 104 57
Man Utd Tottenham vs Man Utd 102 44
QPR QPR vs Man Utd 88 40

For a team that's meant to have a passing "philosophy",that's an awful lot of long balls.

I wasn't the happiest with LVG's managerial performance in the Southampton game and was quite frustrated at him losing that game for us. That feeling was riling up again today by halftime versus QPR but to be fair, he demonstrated in the 2nd half that he isn't just as stubborn as I was beginning to think he was.

Although it was he who put us in a spot of bother initially by fielding 3-5-2 with top players out of position, it was LVG's tactical change that changed the game for us. That cannot be said too much as of late unfortunately. Both substitutes scored and the 4-4-2 switch proved what everyone knows.

I'd say we got lucky in a way that Evans got injured. Not sure he'd have changed it otherwise.

Not really, he could have just brought on another defender in a straight swap.

Say what you want, but LVG is not afraid to make subs early if needed.
Evans and Mata were shocking in the first half, so rightfully substituted.

He would have brought on smalling if he didnt want to change it.

I was expecting either Carrick to drop into CB or Smalling come on when we went 1 up.

I remember than question wrecking my head on holidays years ago....Had a feeling its was a few more than that...

    Nick Culkin
    Raimond van der Gouw
    Paul Rachubka
    Mark Bosnich
    Fabien Barthez
    Massimo Taibi
    Tom Heaton
    Roy Carroll
    Tim Howard
    Ricardo
    Tomasz Kuszcak
    Ben Foster

Rooney was worse and still stayed on the pitch.Such a waste playing him in midfield.

Begovic is a good keeper who for some reason or another has never got a move to a big club.

Lloris would be my ideal replacement but not sure thats possible.

Don't think he was worse than those two.

David De Gea is not leaving for 35 million

It doesn't matter if that's a "good" offer based on what other keepers go for, 35 million is nothing to United compared with what they'd lose
