Oh well lads we've had a good run in fairness.

But unfortunately with that storm over us and the clocks going back the golf season is well and truly in decline, roll on April.

    tomorrow looks ok

    Was out yesterday before rain,

It was enjoyable, but looking at the windsurfers , you could look at it as a different type of sport - sort of extreme golf.

    18 - to 20 m/s wind, a 5 iron 150 yards to a par 3. A 3 wood 170 yards perfect hit.

    But that rain another story.

Yeah but unfortunately the ground is so saturated it's likely that a lot of courses will remain closed, I know mine will be - not even going to bother setting the alarm for the morning.

This is five weekends in a row that the weather has ruined. I'm not afraid of playing in wind and rain but it's been so bad you can't even swing a club:(

Blessed lakes Gc will be good to go tomorrow but seriously weather wise we get away with murder here in the mid east, the Res in Blessington is only just now reaching capacity and today while wet was not a torrential downpour compared to what was seen out west according to the news. How courses in the west cope with the substantially more rainfal is a mystery to me in my relatively dry little bubble. In saying that when there are cold easterlies in our part of the country we deffo suffer more course closures than our more southern and western colleagues. The lack of any easterly dominated weather since 2010 has to end sometime though.

Is it a nembers comp or would there be any greenfee spots available? We are booked in to our course but it was closed today so im not too hopeful.

We invested in the boom days in top notch drainage. Cost a fortune. But whatever about the financial strain it had us on for years, its nice now to get out on Friday and today no bother. Might even be qualifying today.

Which course are you talking about? Because contrary to what was said above, Blessington lakes is closed.

Tramore. Couldn't believe how playable it was on Friday. Some soft spots in the rough here and there but the fairways were fantastic. Even most of the bunkers were fine.

Having said that I don't think it will be qualifying today, we'll be dropping in the rough probably for sure.

Sorry Padzer we got that completely wrong the rain did not ease as expected and apparently there was a couple of hours of heavy rain 3-5 am ish. i arrived up this morning fully expecting to play and the course looked grand from the car park but the greens were waterlogged. Apologies again.

Turned out to be a lovely day yesterday in Dublin but no golf played with home course closed given the wind and rain for the preceeding week. Went to the driving range in Elm Green for some practice and surprisingly the course there was open for play.

Stop, must have rang about 10 different courses yesterday morning to be told they were all closed for the day. Never rang Elmgreen, the closest course to me :o

The joys of being a member of a links golf course it is always playable.

I am not sure if it is an urban myth as I am only a new member but was told that the last time the course closed for the day was the winter in 2010/2011

It's been seven weeks since I've played a full round of golf as my home course has been completely sodden, as are most courses in Galway. I went to the range on Saturday, first time swinging a club since my last round and it was a disgrace. It's depressing how quickly I de-learn this game. I had made real progress in September and October too:( Can't wait for the Spring!

Not sure we are going to get any respite from the relentless river of wet mild muck for the forseeable, the winds are now blowing clear across to Siberia.

Indeed, no end in sight. It'll be well into the Spring before the ground dries to any extent, and that's if the relentless fronts stop spilling in from the Atlantic every week:(
