Brendan Rodgers Liverpool hosts his former club Swansea City at Anfield on MNF. Liverpool go into the game on the back of a scrappy 1 nil win against Burnley and have only won three PL games at home, A record they really need to improve on.

Liverpool are likely to start with Simon Mignolet between the sticks due to an injury picked up by Brad jones on St .Stephen’s day. Liverpool will also be without Flannigan, Loveren and Johnson.

    Possible Liverpool starting XI
    Mig
    Can—Skrtel—Sakho
    Manquillo—Henderson—Lucas—Moreno
    Couthinio—Sterling---Lazor

Garry Monk is set to rotate his squad with possible recalls for Jazz Richards, Wayne Routledge and Bafetimbi Gomis, while on-loan Spurs midfielder Tom Carroll could replace former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey, with monk claiming the midfielder is Lazy and “needs to wise up”.

Would 4 at the back and can in midfield not make more sense?

yeah as kerry said, I had seen a few rumblings that might it be the lineup (probably lallana for lazor).

Anyways Can done ok when he played at the back against Burnley.

If we do go with that setup, I'm wondering will we miss the creativity that Gerrard offers.

Swansea are tricky, this should be an interesting game.
    Looking forward to it

Probably why he went with the other formation, tbh.

Little about Rodgers' lineups make sense to me this season.

This should be a good match. Bony will definitely cause Liverpool problems but you get the sense that they're hitting some kind of form.

    I'll go 2-2.

Liverpool have looked better going forward with 3 at the back recently, and no worse at defending.

I'd be interested to see that formation tried today with two natural full-backs/wing-backs in Manquillo and Moreno.

    Mignolet

    Skrtel----Can---Sakho

    Manquillo
    Moreno

    Henderson---Lucas

    ---Markovic
    Coutinho

    Sterling

Coutinho has looked good recently, I think nullifying him and Sterling will be on the agenda for Swansea.

In a FF league I'm in at work I'm sitting 12 points off the top.

There is 50% of the overall pot for whomever is top on 1st of January.

I have Ashley Williams and Sigurdsson to play this evening, the leader has Neil Taylor.

So needless to say I'm hoping for a Gylfi show tonight.

Any chance Sterling will be rested today or New Years day?

Shelvey to be great and awful in the space of 10 minutes.

I'm 1 point ahead in the league with all my players played. He has Gylfi left to play. Needless to say I need Gylfi to have a terrible game. Preferably a red card and a peno miss!! Either way, one of us will be disappointed tonight.

Unless Hendo or Lucas get their head up when in possession we wont be switching play quickly or hitting the wide men in space, could be a recipe for LFC getting bogged down in the 1st third, like the first half vrs Burnley. Lets see how it goes

Question - Have Liverpool beat a side above them in the league yet?

Was thinking pool will win but a good home draw, both set of supporters go home happy is my new guess.

You think Liverpool supporters are happy with a draw?

That's not bad in fairness. Your getting better at this.

    Spurs.

    Everyone should be beating Spurs.

Mignolet; Can Srktel Sahko; Manquillo Lucas Hendo Moreno; Lallana Sterling Coutinho.

Mignolet gets his place back, Can (a midfielder) starts CB, sticking with 3 at the back. Actually playing wide defenders in a formation for wing backs - especially Moreno and Hendo finally starts over Gerrard, still no striker.

    So many talking points.

Agreed although not starting with a striker and having three of them on the bench doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Surely they will make an impact if needs be. Still not the usual starters for us but I think if things are looking rough Stevie will be brought on to steady the ship.

Happy with the Liverpool team, but those changes should have been made for the United game. Swansea put three past us at Anfield last season and i can't see us keeping a clean sheet or scoring 5 again.

I can see us getting a bit of a hiding tonight and Rodgers getting the boot.

I think that's the best starting 11 possible at the moment, Gerrard has played 4 a few games on the trot so was due a match starting on the bench.

Henderson has an opportunity to show how good he is played in his favoured position and he might well excel without Gerrard.

All considered Sterling is the best option up front although I'd like to see Balotelli played up front with him. With Cou & Lallana playing Sterling is a must though.

Unless Mig has an absolute shocker I can't see Swansea scoring 3, I'm very confident on a home win.

    3 -1 me thinks :)

I'm looking forward to seeing Bony tonight. And Can at CB dealing with him too.

Going for a narrow Liverpool win and a good game of football too.

Can Mig only kick the ball to one spot? Ever kick out goes to the right wing back.

I would think that comes from the coach.

Some decent football being played if a bit low percentage in nature.

Could and should have scored there.

Swansea need to stop all these attacks going down there right side
