HTC One M8 also reduced to £280.
But only 2-3euros for unlocking them
    on eBay.

    thanks for that
think you've made my mind up for me

I do have the s3 mini which was one of the reasons I was leaning towards the s5
the s3 mini isn't a very good fone imo

Ye M8 the better one in my opinion.
Samsung plagued by it's own bloatware.

That bugs the hell out of me
mines very slow anyway but was thinking the s5 would be so much better

only thing im not liking is the 4mp camera on the m8
could live with it if everything else is as good as the reviews

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,282 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Sale hasn't started on the Irish site yet but even so there is no way in hell they'll come close to this, I am thinking of popping up to the quays in Newry in the morning to try for one of these, would prefer the M8 myself.

It uses two cameras to get the shot though, it's not just one poor camera.

I take photos a lot (I travel a good bit), and I genuinely don't ever think "oh wow, the pixels on this are crap" or anything.

It's literally the Best Phone of 2014. I know they're gearing up to release the next edition, I think they're calling it the M9, hence the price drop for the M8.

Definitely get it, it's metal and glass, such a premium feel, plus the technology will last for a good few years.

Where did you get the offer info from as it doesn't even show online s5 or m8 as being available for pay as you go?

Just need to remove it if you don't need it. Can't improve hardware, but you can always remove bloatware. Personally I'd pick Samsung over HTC and I've owned phones from both. Imho Samsung offers more hardware/features for your money.

Can you please confirm the in-shop price for both s5 and m8? Is there a valid proof of address needed when buying one on pay as you go?

    Cheers

Like pc world uk, it will be cancelled once they detect the ROI credit card.

This is mad - I feel being screwed nearly every time I want to buy something here...
Why the hell these prices here are so high when compared to UK or Germany for the same item?

Parcel Motel is a great service, same as Mailboxde.com (for bigger stuff) but would we have an option for a prepaid "credit card" with UK address to avoid cancellations mentioned above?

Wouldn't be any harm in applying through the Vodafone online unlock request. Down here, you must spend in the region of 100 quid credit before they'll unlock. I'd imagine its similar up north.

AFAIK, codes can be bought online for about €20

I ordered the S5 and it hasn't been cancelled yet. As luck would have it I have come into possession of another good phone since. Would anyone in Cork city want it at cost + the PM charge if I actually get it?

Back in stock on their UK site

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭Twatter

Placed my order Christmas Eve after seeing the offer on HUKD. Used ROI credit card and Parcel Motel Newtownabbey for address. No communication from Vodafone after they emailed the initial order number. Credit card account only showed transaction today. Had been going to check Newry store to buy one if initial order was rejected but everything worked out fine (except its simlocked!) and i collected the phone from locker this morning. I'd suggest phoning the Newry store for anyone thinking of travelling any distance.
