    15. Peter Murchie
    14. Sean Lamont
    13. Richie Vernon
    12. Peter Horne
    11. DTH van der Merwe
    10. Finn Russell
    9. Niko Matawalu

    1. Gordon Reid
    2. Fraser Brown
    3. Euan Murray
    4. Leone Nakarawa
    5. Jonny Gray
    6. Rob Harley
    7. Tyrone Holmes
    8. Josh Strauss (Captain)

    16. Dougie Hall
    17. Alex Allan
    18. Jon Welsh
    19. Tim Swinson
    20. Ryan Wilson
    21. Henry Pyrgos
    22. James Downey
    23. Tommy Seymour

Not available due to injury: Adam Ashe (neck), Mark Bennett (leg), Kevin Bryce (shin), Rossouw de Klerk (foot), Alex Dunbar (head), Chris Fusaro (ankle), Stuart Hogg (knee), Lee Jones (ankle), Pat MacArthur (ankle), Murray McConnell (leg), Sean Maitland (leg) and Tom Ryder (neck).

    Munster:
    Johne Murphy; Andrew Conway, Pat Howard, Denis Hurley, Simon Zebo; JJ Hanrahan, Conor Murray;
John Ryan, Kevin O'Byrne, Stephen Archer; Billy Holland, Paul O'Connell; Peter O'Mahony Capt., Sean Dougall, Robin Copeland.

Replacements: Niall Scannell, Eusebio Guinazu, BJ Botha, Donncha O'Callaghan, Dave O'Callaghan, Duncan Williams, Ian Keatley, Felix Jones.

8 changes in all. It looks like Casey, Foley, TOD and Stander have been rested. The persistance with Murphy is not something I'm a fan of, he's been off the boil this season anytime I've seen him. I'm not sure if the tam is good enough for a win but hopefully a LBP at least.

Nakarawa and Matawalu both starting for Glasgow.

Hopefully JJ has a good showing. I may be wrong but I have it in my memory that all of his starts at outhalf thus far he hasn't had murray inside him, so looking forward to seeing then together

He had a very good game in this fixture last year.

That Glasgow team looks a lot stronger than their Munster counterparts... especially in the backline, much more balance right across. Murray/JJ is a big asset though- as is having POC + POM. Front row looks weak and I think we'll miss TOD who has been class.

I suppose it could have been weaker all things considered, hopefully we can somehow sneak a win.

I know the Leinster Connacht thread went up very early in the week but this is a bit ridiculous!

Can someone fix this thread title - gave me one hell of a fright!

    Yikes, fixed now.

Strong Glasgow team, fast ball could kill us. We need a win here, more than just league points at stake.

I don't think we need a win really. Most of our competitors for playoff spots would lose in Glasgow anyway: Leinster have already lost and Ulster & Ospreys still have to travel there. I think a 4-1 result would be pretty good, considering Glasgow will be raging that they blew their chance in Europe against Toulouse.

Although Glasgow's next matches in the league are Edinburgh x 2, Scarlets (H), Zebre (A) which they'll probably get 16+ points from.

All the more reason why we need the win. If Munster want to Top the League then they need to win some of the top of the league clashes away from home. Glasgow can be more than capable of picking up an away LBP in Musgrave Park. The Munster v Glasgow game will be played during the the 6Ns so both teams will have key players involved in their national teams, generally, Munster are a bit easier to beat when the international players are missing.

I get you now. It would certainly be a bonus but I don't think we need the win in the same way as we need the win at Saracens in January. I'd take a 4-1 if it was offered to me! Certainly Glasgow have to keep ticking over as their run-in is very tough.

That's a good Glasgow team. If Munster can get away with a LBP, it will be a good result. Glasgow at home ain't easy, as many have found out!

In Glasgow now wearing 100 layers. The missus is a warriors fan I'm a munster fan. Think I will be doing the forfeits later!

1st scrum penalty against us, 3-0 to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Try for JJ!!! Very easy in the end, but what a super carry from John Ryan out on the left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,836 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Ata boy JJ. That's the exact same type of try Madigan was scoring for Leinster last season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 911 ✭✭✭Bassfish

Is the match on radio at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Never got a hold of the kick, but very good try.

That's what JJ brings... if there is the slightest gap like that, he will attack it, he has a great burst of acceleration. He's going to get shut out after a while, but because he has such a good pass, he should be able to open up space for others even if that happens.

Given away 3 kickable penalties already, not good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

    Good defence.

Another penalty and an official warning, we're going to lose a player soon.

    Another penalty..... Jesus...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Great work by Jones, but now POC in the bin for an infringement on their 5m line...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Ah feck. POC in the bin. Very out of character.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭Spudmonkey

    FFS.... Terrible discipline..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Glasgow looking dangerous, but to be fair, Munster not making it easy for them. Good scrum there while missing O'Connell.

Ball was on the line there, so he wasn't off? He knew what he was trying to do...

Am I the only one to think that was a ridiculous yellow card?
The warning from the ref was in relation to defensive penalties.
He then gives the yellow card for an attacking penalty on their line!

The interview with a member of the backroom team is pointless.

    Another chargedown!

We seem to be making yards pretty easily.

Was the ball behind the line for POC's card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Glasgow making a lot of silly errors.

POC was also entitled to go for the ball as he did. Hodges fluffed it up imo.

Glasgow had the ball so it was still a defensive penalty.

Looked on the line to me on first viewing. What should have been a Munster try, turned into a Munster yellow.

Good kick JJ, back in the lead.

Another penalty, KOB stupid there, knocked the ball away as he was rolling away.

We're defending well, some of these penalties aren't ones we should be conceding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Murray tried to buy a penalty but dallied and threw it to no-one. Silly, then Conway drops a ball, then JJ out on the full.

We were making ground and we seem to be doing it easily when we go through the phases.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,836 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Conway with the shifty hips, stood Matawalu up in style. Pity about the kick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

What the actual fcuk is the problem with Irish 9s trying that stupid reverse pass, to say it works 1/10 times is generous

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

That crossfield kick was lovely, good positioning from the Glasgow wing and Conway was still almost in.

?? He kicks him in the face?

How did the officials not see it? How did the commentators not see it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Did he make contact? I suppose you have to be extra careful when you go near someone's head these days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,668 ✭✭✭Mahatma Geansai

Looks like he made contact with Murray's head on the last angle. DOC got two weeks off for making contact with a player's head in a ruck.

    nipe, Dougall, sorry
