  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,442 ✭✭✭ofcork

In cork its down to 125.9 in one garage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭ARCD

Pretty sure I saw 124.9 in Applegreen, Crumlin earlier.

Pumps.ie is a good place to check latest prices, apparently there's two places selling diesel at 119.9!

I saw it today at 121.9c/l in Roscommon. However if this garage was giving it away I would only use it for burning bushes

Best I've seen was 126.9 so far, some fella posted a pic of a Topaz station in Roscommon at 123.9

    Yep, that was me.

Roscommon town this afternoon. Cheapest I've seen anywhere in the country that wasn't a dodgy cash only unbranded site.

would it be wise to buy 1000 liters now before the inevitable sharp rise?
I have a spare 1000 liter oil tank and all, do you think it will get much cheaper?

1.199 in the Esso coming into Dungarvan this morning. Lowest I had seen.

It will keep dropping well into the new year at least. There is a bit of a Mexican standoff at the minute, everybody is bringing up too much oil at the minute, nobody wants to cut back and risk another to take over their share of the market.

It's a practice that I feel should be outlawed. They should be made sell it rounded to the cent and not to a decimal place.

I mean, would they get away with selling a pint in a pub the same way? :)

Cheapest I've seen in Wexford Town is 1.24.
There's still some difference in prices between garages.
Some still selling at 1.33 - nearly 10c in the difference.

should be well below a euro at the moment.

Did anyone ever publish the list of outlets that were selling cheap petrol that was wrecking car engines? Sometimes when its too cheap to be true thers a reason for it.

119.9 in whitechurch cork at the moment. 127.9 for petrol. Great gas station so it's not crap.

Hopefully it stays like this for a while. When it was up near 1.60 a litre it was getting a bit scary there.

Some right gougers running petrol stations in Galway. Usual price is over 1.3 and most expensive I've seen was 1.36 today. That's a cool 10 cent the liter more than Ennis. Nice money if you can make it. They won't be making it from me, I know I can easily make it back, even with the light on. As for Galway, driving around the city center is like being trapped in a Kafka-esque nightmare and there's no escape. Avoid at all costs. Arty-farty with nothing behind it. Limerick is ten times better.

From taking to people in Customs the only garage to worry about in regards to this was a gem of a place.
A lot of solicitors letters were sent to RTE in the run up to the show about petrol stretching from one of Ireland's biggest business men.
It wasn't petrol being streched with kerosene rather a bad load that came to that company and was still sold.
It also went to a company in England who pulled it back from sale.

Was in it yesterday, such a cnut of a place, even if you go around the city centre it's still bad. I notice an applegreen station is being built out the Tuam road. Not sure if that's a great location for it....

1.08 for diesel in Poland ,then.Mind you,on an average wage of €680 take home a month, that's a high price compared to here.

What's the price at the self service station in Claregalway? That's usually the cheapest.

That was kinda my point. While it's 1.08 in euros, for poeple working there its more like you compared directly displayed prices, so as we were paying around 4.50 per litre

Didn't go that way. But the station a few miles before Gort (heading back in the Ennis direction) wanted 1.36 for diesel. It's worth holding out for Ennis, 1.26 on the old Limerick Road.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,866 ✭✭✭✭bear1

The thing though about Poland is that if the price of fuel goes down so does the price of road tax which is included in it for them.
I agree though, it's cheap for us with Euro but when it could cost you 2/3 days just to fill up then it is very noticeable.

I passed it, but can't remember what it said, wasnt too cheap or I would have remembered it. It's an unnamed place though... so you'd wonder about the quality.

That's the good old cosy fuel cartel in operation in Wexford - same in enniscorthy

Stop showing off with your cheap fuel..... In Clifden it's currently still 1.44 for petrol 139.9 for diesel. Grrrrrrrr

Wow, scheisse! What kind of fat, inbred gombeen would charge that? Can they keep a straight face when you pay for petrol fuel, or would they be sniggering at you from behind the counter?
I would go quite a bit out of my way to not buy fuel there.

The funny thing about Clifden is that you can't go out of your way to buy fuel elsewhere... it really is the back and beyonds... op, I'm assuming it's the sweeney oil place?

    It isn't really. It's just a myth
There is obviously excise and other taxes in fuel in Poland, but that's exactly the same as in any other EU country.
There isn't any hidden road tax included in price of fuel.
Road tax doesn't exist in Poland in relation to private vehicles. It's being paid on trucks and buses similarly like in Ireland.
For private cars and vans it was abandoned in mid 90's.

    I'm sure it is.
But that's what LPG is for.

    7c in Qatar and Venezula...

    they couldn't give diesel away...

Use to be able to fill a mini bus tank for $10 or something crazy like that

I think anyone who's car broke down blamed it on dodgy petrol. My aunt was telling me how she filled up in an esso that to me looked legit but it was dodgy fuel left her on the side of the road.
When she got it to a garage after giving out about the station for two days it was the head gasket gone in her car.
No doubt there was some chancers at it trying to them a quick buck.
