Gameweek 16 Matchday Thread

A little bit soon I know, but I have seen these threads created in the early hours before so said I'd kick us off, and technically it is matchday. :D

A huge gameweek ahead with the Aguero re-shuffle leading to many taking a 4 point hit to downgrade Sergio and improve elsewhere. Whoever gets their Aguero replacement correct could see a big bump up the rankings this gameweek.

    I line up as follows:
    Pantilimon

    Azpilicueta N.Taylor Cresswell Hutton

    Hazard (C) Sanchez Sigurdsson Boyd

    Van Persie Costa (VC)

Subs: Hamer, Chadli, Chambers (SUS), Austin (SUS)

Only difficult choice for me this week was whether to start Chadli or Boyd. With Chadli playing in Turkey the other night and Boyd looking relatively dangerous (along with having one of the highest amount of shot rates the last few gameweeks) I've plumped with Georgie. I could start both I suppose but I doubt Chadli plays near 90 minutes.

Van Persie is my Aguero replacement (for now anyway). An admitted knee-jerk on my part but with his fixtures I'm hoping he can prove to be a nice differential for a few weeks, so it would be nice to see him get on the board. Just a gut feeling that I'm following.

Four ideal results for me would be Sunderland 0-0 West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal running riot, and Van Persie having involvement in one or more Manchester United goals.

So, how are you all feeling about this gameweek and how do you line up? Best of luck to all. :)

No points hit. Going with this:

    Guzan
    Baines(V) Azpi O'Shea
    Eriksen Sterling Hazard(C) Sanchez Siggy
    Costa Benteke

    subs: Gilks, Isla Dummett Austin

Team chooses itself basically. Gd'luck all!

I have taken a 4 point hit to bring in Yaya and Bony for Aguero and Boyd. Feeling confident I can muster a decent score with this lot:
    Foster
    Clyne Hutton Baines
Downing Yaya Hazard (c) Sanchez (v) Siggy
    Bony Rooney

    Elliot - Austin Yun Chambers

Teams are starting to veer away from a template look since Kun's injury which is good for the game. We are now entering the most hectic part of the season and people who are not doing well right now have a chance to shoot up the rankings with well judged transfers and captain decisions.

Courtois's injury has forced me into a -4 this week.

    Hart
    Baines Hutton N.Taylor
    Hazard Yaya Sanchez(c) Boyd Downing
    Dzeko Bony

So basically if Chelsea lose 1-0 I'll have a good week I think.

    went with

    forster

    wisdom clyne dummet

    sanchez jedinak hazard (c) siggy

no points hit but subs bench of elliot (inj) schneiderlin (inj) chambers (sus) taylor (sus)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭stiffler123

    De Gea
    Azpi Clichy Hutton
    Yaya Hazard Sanchez Siggy Boyd
    Dzeko(c) Costa(v)

    Myhill, Dummet, Yun, Austin

-8 taken so I expect big things from Dzeko.

    Guzan
    Wisdom berty azpili
Sanch yaya eriksen siggy hazard (C)
    Costa ings

I feel like my team is pretty strong but worried this could end up being a 20 pointer

I have one last decision to make. Start Wisdom or Boyd?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,231 ✭✭✭G1032

I have no Man City players.
    Hamer is my goalie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,048 ✭✭✭remoteboy

Six players missing so had to take a -8

    Cech
    Baines Bertrand Hutton
Hazard (c) Sanchez Wanyama Siggy Touré
    Bony Sakho

No man city players either. Considering a hit to swap sterling for silva.. Anyone agree with this?

Really tempted to go for another -4 to get Silva in for Ericksen.

Anyone to sway me back from it?

not likely to start and if he does might only play 60mins. il be getting him in myself soon but not for a gw or two yet

Eriksen created some good chances last week and looked decent. I'm happy to hold him.

    I line out:

    Green
    Dummett Naylor Wisdom Terry
    Hazard Siggy Sanchez Eriksen
    Bony Costa
Marney is my only available sub.

    I've resisted the urge for a -4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

    Ddg
    Terry hutton wisdom
    Siggy sanchez mirallas eriksen hazard
    Ings costa
Still undecided on captain. I have it on sanchez but arsenal are missing a lot of players today so will probably switch to hazard.
On a -4 mirallas and costa in this week.

The voice of reasoning well spoken.

The City player to have this week us Yaya but can't afford him. Waiting on Silva is the correct move all day long but still.....

City have a tendency to struggle away from home so I'm not in a rush for any of their players. I want to see how they line up without Kun as well.

    Going with this -4
    Loris
    Azi, Dummet, Wisdom
    Sanchez(C), Downing, Yaya, Boyd
    Costa, Bony, Dezko
oh well what will be will be 😨

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 784 ✭✭✭FrClintPower

    Lloris
    Naylor - Terry - Bertrand
    Sanchez - Hazard (c) - Downing - Eriksen - Boyd
    Bony - Benteke

    Subs: McCarthy - O'Shea - Yun - Austin (sus)

No hits this week, just Aguero to Benteke. Team looks a bit light but I've 7.4(!) in the bank and will probably get in Silva and Kompany/Zab over the next couple of weeks. Only tough decision today was Naylor vs O'Shea - my gut says O'Shea, but Paddy Power just favours Naylor so......

Torn between Fellani or Wanyama? Think I'm getting away with murder with Fellani but am a Utd fan. By the way is last orders 2pm today?

Giro us or Welbeck the likelier starter?

After the last GW resulting in 5/6 suspensions/injuries for many, am expecting some interesting results the week.

I also have fellaini and I bought him specifically with this game in mind
Liverpool are horrendous from set pieces! I fancy him for a goal just hope he keeps his elbows in check!

    Guzan
    Kaboul, Wisdom, Baines
    Hazard, Sanchez, Siggy, Yaya
    Bony, Rooney, Sakho

    Myhill, Dummet, Jedinak, Caulker

My consideration is to switch Kaboul to Dummet and Sakho to Jedinak.
What do u think? Is Sakho going to start vs Sunderland today?

    -8 this week.

    Foster
    Hutton Ivanovic Cresswell Kompany
    Hazard(c) Sanchez Siggy Yaya
    Benteke Costa

    Cattermole and Dummett on bench

Big time lots of different looking teams knocking around now should be interesting few weeks. Hopefully the WC doesn't bring everyone back together.

    After -8

    Foster
    Haines - Ivan - Naylor
Hazard - Sanchez - Siggy - Boyd - Chadli (hopefully!!)
    Costa (c) - Kane

    Krul - Cameron, Austin, Duff

Hopeful I will get 11 out! Never had such a shocking run of injuries before in 10+ years!!

I'm enjoying reading this thread and seeing all these hits. -8 is a popular number this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,231 ✭✭✭G1032

    (-4)
    Fabianski (Hamer)
    Baines, Azpil, Wisdom, Hutton, (Coloccini)
    Siggy, Sanchez, Hazard (c),Downing,(Wanyama)

I currently have Naylor on the bench and playing hutton and wisdom. Anyone have the cs odds for those 3.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 388 ✭✭Gooners

    Guzan

    Trippier Bertrand Yun

    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Sterling

    Bony Ings Costa (c)

Expecting at least 110 points this week. :)

Actually should I play Wanyama instead of any mid above.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,965 ✭✭✭✭dahat

    Adrian

    Baines Terry Cissoko

    Siggy Hazard Boyd Sanchez Eriksen

    Costa Rooney

A -4 taken and while some may query two big prcoed defenders I have reasoning.

My mini league, cash, has two game weeks left which meant I had to get Rooney as a blocker which left me with Chambers who needed replacing, Terry offered a real good chance of good returns quickly with a half chance of a goal maybe.

16pt lead to hold onto so hoping I get through today that intact.

Augero out for Carroll and Ramsey drops to bench with Davis (Sou) coming in so I dont need to take a hit.
Next week Ramsey out of Silva or Sanchez and hope that I dont have to use a transfer in GW 18 so whe the lads are fit revert; although Rambo is more Rambi so having thoughts about putting him in again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,553 ✭✭✭✭Copper_pipe

    Green
    Bertrand-azpil-Wisdom
    Yaya Toure-Hazard-Sanchez- siggy- Boyd
    Dzeko- Costa

    Still undecided on captain choice

Which 2 of these 4 would ye go with?

    O'Shea, Hutton, Wisdom, Boyd

I decided this morning I was going with:
    O'Shea and Boyd
having had the other 2 in my team last night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭The Wild Bunch

Lads, can anyone help me - do I stick with Welbeck or will he be benched for Giroud?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,274 ✭✭✭✭FHFC

    Green
    Kompany, Terry, Hutton
    Haz (c), Sanchez, Eriksen, Downing
    RVP, Bony, Costa

    Hamer, Boyd, Dummet, Duff

Took the -4 to get Kompany, hopefully it will pay back today, but if it doesn't it's a tactical move as i want that City defence cover and will probably require a hit this week or next to get my team set for Xmas post Aguero and taking it this week gives the max chance of it paying back.

Most lineups predict both to start, Welbeck out wide, Giroud up top.

Yes I would expect Welbeck to start today but he will become more and more of a rotation and/or out of postion risk from here on, with Ozil and walcott to come into the mix soon.

I have Neil Taylor currently in ahead of wisdom but the clean sheet odds slightly favour wisdom....hhhhmmmm

Think I might bench Chadli and just play Boyd. Boyd at least will play the full 90. Chadli's been breaking my heart the last few weeks.

Well I've had Hutton for 2 games and he's got me 16 points :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

    Right ok here's me:

    De Gea
    Azpi - Cresswell - Hutton - Wisdom
    Sanchez - Siggy - Mirallas - Hazard (c)
    Bony - Costa

    Subs: Boyd, O'Shea, Austin

No hits, 9 home players and have 2 subs I'd be quite happy to play.

I boldly predict this is a GW where everything will not go well and somehow those on hits and 9-10 players will beat me. Probably because they have Yaya Toure and I do not

A man gotta have a code!

    Playing 3-4-3

Have I the right back three?

    Gibbs,Clyne and Hutton

Taylor and Dummett on the bench
