Does anyone know a supplier for Tesa trim tape in Ireland? I am repairing a single scull rowing boat which has trim tape but needs to be replaced. I have checked on the internet and have found suppliers in the UK but thought it might be quicker if it was located in Ireland somewhere or can anyone recommend an alternative?

Have you tried any of the bigger motor factors they might have a similar product that will do the job. If you can post a link to the one your looking for I'll have a look around.

I have not the faintest idea what you're on about, but I can tell you this - if Fergal can't find it, it can't be found :D

Cheers lads, it wont let me post a link but if you google Neaves-Rowing, go to Deck Fittings. It should be under cloth tapes. Or ESRowingservices.co.uk, Spares, Deck Covering and Adhesive tapes.

Is it something like this http://irishtapes.com/tesa-51608-fleece-harness-tape-p-213.html a cloth tape for things like wiring looms or is it just a decorative tape like pinstriping.

I am not sure about that one, it would be a decorative tape but strong enough to withstand the elements involved in rowing. The janousek.co.uk website calls it a trim tape on its online shop.

If it's just decorative I say the car striping will do Halfords have some, for striping on my trailer I used Duct tape dose the job but not a big choice of colours another cheep and cheerful option would be a good insulation tape most of them are waterproof and you have a wide range of colours :)

I will give them a try. The scull also has a small vertical crack running into the hull, I was going to use a fibreglass kit and put a patch on the inside of the hull and filler on the crack outside. Is there anything else recommended???

It's hard to say without seeing it maybe you could PM me a photo. If it's not structural you might be able to put some plastic up against the crack on the outside and force thickened epoxy resin into the crack from the inside then when it's set remove the plastic and it will leave a smooth finish.

Where about on the boat is the crack and is the boat fibreglass or wood.

The picture is of the side of the boat and the saxboard is the top part of the picture. The two pieces of blue tape going diagonally upwards have a gap in the middle were the saxboard join is. At the bottom of the join the crack starts, goes through the horizontal blue tape and into the hull. The boat appears to have a fibreglass outer layer and what looks like a wooden mesh on the inside. Hope this is understandable....

If it looks like this I'd say it's timber coated in fiberglass cloth and as the crack is right through the timber has broken causing the crack in this case I would cut some plywood and reinforce it from the inside.

There is a possibility that it is a fibreglass boat and that is why the fibreglass kit was recommended. I doesn't look like the last image.

If it's fiberglass you might get away with something like this with a bit more reinforcing on the inside.

Yes, that looks to be more like what I aiming for. Many thanks...
