Hey hey hey we discussed this the SNES mini statement release is to be withheld until after I've procured one.

Agreed. I traded-in my Professor Layton titles because of this. The only puzzles that don't make me feel stupid are ones in Zelda games.... :(

    @Robbing Bandit: What's 'Generations'?

WARNING TO ALL 2DS/3DS FAMILY USERS: Apologise for all-caps, but this CANNOT be stressed enough; they are REGION-LOCKED! I have seen at least one person have to return an NTSC 3DS game, with much hassle, because they overlooked that point....

Now thats a call back post :p

Think he meant Monster Hunter generations.

Note, the region lock on the 2/3DS applies to DS games as well as 3DS games, even though the DS itself was not region locked!

That's not true. DS games are region free on the 2/3DS. DSi games are region locked (I think Pokemon BW and BW2 are region locked) as they have always been region locked.

Pokemon BW is the game I'm basing that off, as my Japanese cart plays fine in all my DSes but I confess, none of them are DSi. So did it have some sort DSi enhanced features?

It did have some DSi enhanced features. So it is region free in a DS but region locked in a DSi or 2/3DS.

    From Bulbapedia
DSi-enhanced game cartridges are DS games that have additional features when played on the Nintendo DSi or 3DS. Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 can connect to WPA and WPA2 protected wireless networks and utilize the camera when using the Xtransceiver when played on a DSi or 3DS. However, they are also region-locked on these systems.

Just because this topic made me curious I popped my Japanese DS copy of Jump Ultimate Stars into my N3DS and it works fine.

So it's the DSi-enhanced games only? Good to know, I might reignite my passion for Masuda Method breeding on Diamond if I can get a copy...

I saw this and thought to myself "Wow, why would it be hard to get a copy of Pokemon Diamond, at a certain point I was swimming in Gen 4 carts. I'll look it up on Amazon."

FOURTY EIGHT POUNDS STERLING? Holy what.

I'm tempted to ditch the SNES edition 3ds XL pre order in favour of this

My eldest will flip for that and wants a 2ds xl for Christmas. Where's a good place to camp for preorders?

Can I get an ELI5 on what MH:Stories is? :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Monster Hunter Stories is kind of like a Pokemon game but set in the Monster Hunter world. Instead of hunting gigantic beasts for their skin and organs, you seek out and hatch eggs and nurture baby gigantic beasts, then take them on dungeoneering adventures. I think.

Pretty much what banjo said, been playing since launch and i like it a lot, its kind of aimed at a younger monster hunter audience but that didnt put me off, i think its a good game. You get eggs hatch monsters and fight bigger monsters, with a paper siccor rock type system and later on elemental special moves for u and your monster, Theres a demo on the eshop if you are unsure what to think about it try the demo.

The demo on the Eshop is more or less the first 3/4 hours of the actual game, so just check it out for yourself

This all the way for me, save enough to get a steel box of Ultra Moon by going with this over the Snes one and you'll still have change too.

Ohhh that's pretty. Kinda questioning my decision to cancel the Samus 3DS for the SNES one right now.

Aw the SNES edition has coloured buttons reflecting the SNES controller, it's an automatic win for me. :pac: I'd love to own that legacy edition Metroid though, I see it available from Amazon.es but you need to be a Prime member to buy it :(, anyone with Prime membership here want to order it for me? :)

I don't know if it's just me or not but it seems they don't release a lot of new games for the 3DS, do they?

I remember new games being released for the DS back in the day all the time but now there aren't many.
Or it could be that I'm being picky?

I love Super Mario and Professor Layton and while I am aware the new Layton game is being released next month, with no obvious advertising on TV, I must add, I'm not aware of any new Super Mario games coming out.
    Am I wrong?

I didn't like the Super Mario DS Party back in the day so I won't be interested in any style like that.

I liked Hotel Dusk and I like any kind of mystery/puzzle games like Layton but I feel they're few and far between.

Also, is there a place to buy old games for less than the shops?

I'd love Super Mario 64 for the DS but it's still full price even after all these years, in Smyth's and I don't see anywhere online that sells old games for less than the shops, apart from the likes of DoneDeal etc which isn't a road I want to go down.

If you are after DS games check the Sunday markets and Adverts.ie ,
CEX is a good spot too, with some good deals and some not so good.
You will have to be the judge.

But the price is the price, if a game is expensive on Amazon or eBay, then that's probably the market price at the moment.

They look super nice, the corner of the box got a little nicked in the post though.
