    Hey,
I've always been around the 8 1/2 stone mark, for the last seven years. The last time I weighed myself was two months ago and I was the same. I've just weighed myself recently and I was ten stone. Now, I'm tall so the extra weight has gone relatively unnoticed but I'm just wondering what could have caused the sudden increase in weight?
I'm not looking for medical advice, by the way. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience where they've always been the same weight and then suddenly have a significant increase? I also seem to not be full for very long and bloat after every meal, no matter what I eat. I had a big vegetable stirfry (I've always ate large meals) but was hungry again after ten minutes, despite the swelling in my stomach.

Did you go on a Contraceptive pill recently? That's quite off, seeing as you have had a stable weight for years. I put on that exact amount of weight (before I had the kids) but it crept on over about a year or so (was just bad lifestyle & getting older :().

Not recently, no. I started the injection about 7 months ago, unless there was a delayed reaction to that.
    Carbs.

Never affected me before. Also, the dinner I ate last night was a vegetable stirfry which was majority vegetable as they were going to go off.

On this forum vegetables aren't carbs.

Yes. Which is why I'm not sure it's carbs causing the weight gain.

Are you sure the scales were correct?

Has there been any change in activity levels or eating patterns? are your clothes tighter?

I weighed myself two weeks ago and was 10lb heavier than I thought I was. Its a lot on my frame and brings me close to overweight category. The weight honestly just crept on over time I guess. For the time being I have cut alcohol way back along with refined crabs. Still having the odd mince pie mind. But I think its making a difference. Am filling up with vegetables as much as I can.

Okay, just throwing this out there:

~ Have you had any 'major' stress-induced incident in your life in recent times?
~ Has your menstrual cycle altered in any way?
~ Have you increased your exercise-regime in any significant way?

    Just some suggestions,

Yup, scales were definitely right, both were being tested for science experiments at the time. Activity level, not particularly. Eating patterns... possibly eating a little less than normal. Clothes, a slight bit. Not a huge amount but it's a bit more of a squeeze into my jeans which used to fit perfectly.

Over the summer there was, and I'm currently going through fourth year which is more stressful than other years.

I haven't had one since I started the injection

Nope, no really change to exercise.

Are you in your early twenties? Do you drink much?

It could be the injection, hormonal changes. Its a lot easier to put in weight when a bit older, also when stressed.

I put on a heap of weight when I started college, but that was bad diet and booze. Never lost it.

Yup, I'm twenty and I don't drink at all.

I'd be inclined to think it is the injection but it still seems excessive. Two places I've looked say it's 5 pounds per year and I've gained the equivalent of about 21 pounds in 2 months.

I'm also in my last year of college and definitely eating far better than first year... gosh, how people survive first year in college :D

I think a lot of people just gain weight around that age. I'm sure there are many reasons. Might be no harm to check with the doctor though, as that is a big enough gain in a short time. Are you still riding horses regularly?

I was wondering if it was worthy of going to the doctor about :)

Not as much as I would like but no different from the last few years which is once a week during term and very often outside of term.

So you would have been out regularly over the summer and less from September onwards. Could just be less riding combined with your metabolism maturing and maybe the hormones into the mix. I don't ride these days and its definitely made a difference. Its not just the riding but all the associated activity and jobs.
