Have thinkpads gone down in quality in the last few years?

I will need to get a laptop at some stage in the future and I like the thinkpads. However, I'm very disappointed with my t400s after reading decent reviews on it at the time. It hasn't worn well and has been kept fairly well. Thanks in advance as they say.
