Her mother used to watch the 10 O'clock news upstairs where she could take it all in without interuptions.

She was never bothered about the weather so we knew we had exactly 30 minutes .

We used to switch the downstairs tv over to Lou Grant. All these years later if ever I hear the music, it still causes me to pull a soppy grin for no apparent reason to anyone else around
