If I knew then, what I know now… I called coal direct at 00:9 Hrs, answering machine, and left a msg. Called again at 10:00 hrs, again answering machine. 14:00 called again, and got to speak to the coal direct rep , repeated the Msg I had left earlier that morning. Yes, got your msg OK, but your order has already been dispatched. When I informed him that the coal might be illegal in the south, he assured me that it was 100% legal, so no worries from that side of things, and as for performance, no worries there either, go ahead and try it when it arrives, and you will see. So that's what I intend to do!!! Will report as soon as I have tried this coal out.

I had the same hassle a couple of weeks ago. In the end I used Warde groupage who charged £68/€82. I'm sure there are cheaper around I just got fed up checking various companies, not worth the hassle for €10 - €15.

Considering the super fast dispatch time, I was half expecting it to arrive today, and deliberately stayed at home, but no luck. Anyway, tomorrow is a another day, and I don't know if they deliver on Saturdays??? Anyway, while speaking to the supplier, I gave the reason for cancelling being that the coal was not legal in the south of Ireland, and he explained profusely that it was indeed legal, with the appropriate Nr's on the bags. So we will see! If it doesn't work out, I'll go for a ton from the supplier you mentioned.

    Thanks Jim .

No sorry You would need to hire and pay for your own pallet collection services. The £299 a ton prices is for collection only. From their yard in Northern Ireland

If you look at old message on this page.

Other people have said which company they have used .

    thank for your question.

For anyone that doesn't have the money and/ or space for a full ton this is what I found this week in terms of cost for a half ton of smokeless ovoids delivered. NB is that these are delivered prices - there is cheaper out there per half ton but when you add in pallet delivery they are way more expensive.

All prices are for a version of smokeless ovoids.

    The Dandys - €262.5 or €10.50 a 20kg bag

    Coal Warehouse- €255 or €10.20 a 20kg bag.

    Maguires €247.5 or €9.90 per 20kg bag.

(For Maguires it may be more depending on delivery area. Other 2 are countrywide prices)

You forgot about Noal on done deal website who is selling Eco glow for €250 for half a ton which is €10 a bag.

How much did kosy king want for delivery to ROI.

You also forgot to say click coal. Which has

Super heat €9 only suitable for open fire

smokeless ovoids or Hi lite €11.60

If you add 25 one bag to your basket rather than click on 25 bag box on the webpage.

What size bag are you talking I'm guessing it's 25 or 20 kg?

Done deal is a minefield and not a place I would be happy buying coal from, tbe established companies will stand over their product.

I’ve had poor coal in the past and wouldn’t take that risk but each tk their own

    The internet isn’t for everyone

I didn't forget Noel. He is a new player only on donedeal so I deliberately left him out as if it includes delivery it's the same price as the main stream guys. If it does not then way more expensive. (As a small reseller he is unlikely to be in a position to offer nationwide delivery)

I didn't forget click coal - as I said I was only comparing the ovoids which are more expensive so I left them out of the top 3 in terms of cost for ovoids.

If you add the bags 1 at a time then it adds €70 delivery.

So ya they were the best 3 I found last week when getting half ton.

Kosy king don't delivery themselves so normal pallet delivery costs - usually around €70 to €85

I was only offering what I found in case it helped anyone in similar situation, I said it was only for ovoids delivered and they were my top 3. No need to try find fault.

I am very sorry I was not trying to find fault. I was just trying to help you and other people save money who can only purchase half a ton .

click coal must had closed the loop which I used to get delivered 25 bags of Hi lite for £250. Sorry

I just checked the website and if you click 25 bags button, it then give me free delivery to Lancashire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭cathy427

Yes free delivery but the base price is way more expensive at €325.

So none of your own options were cheaper.

Just to note the prices I am stating are all in euro with delivery to Republic.

If people are looking for smaller quantities of coal it is probably worth keeping an eye on their local co-op hardware store for deals.

Anyway, update on the FireBright smokeless ovoid's, ordered Tues, arrived lunchtime Friday, began burning them on Saturday and Sunday. No complaint's, they burn well, dont blacken the glass as much as the Eco Green bag coal, and seem to last longer. So far, so good! I'm waiting to see what my daughter thinks of them.

They had a certificate of conformity on the pallet, I.S 311:2022, same as Ecoglow. So all above board in that respect.

I don't have access to Facebook right now, is delivery extra on that? Anyone bought this coal from Wray group?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭cathy427

    Haven't bought from them.

Just looking at answers to questions on their Facebook page that were written in the last two days-

Delivery to Longford, Tipperary and Kerry all at £385 (sterling)

So, seems to be a flat rate delivery fee !!!! 😀

Easyglow just sent this email saying they might have to increase there prices because of the cost of delivery being increased .

We are writing to inform you of upcoming changes in delivery costs, resulting from adjustments made by our delivery provider. While we are actively working with them to minimise the impact of these changes, we want to give you advance notice that there may be significant increases in delivery fees starting Friday, 1st November.

If you place an order before this date, current delivery rates will still apply. We encourage you to place your orders soon to take advantage of the existing prices.

We will keep you informed as soon as we have confirmed details regarding the updated delivery costs.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to serving you well into the future.
