Hey. I've recently taken up weights as of last week. I'm only squatting with the bar and lifting 8kg dumbells doing shoulder press, chest, curls and pull ups. I woke up on Wednesday morning with a sore elbow joint, I assumed I had slept in an awkward position and that it wasn't related to my workout. However, I worked out last night and the soreness in my elbow joint is much worse today. I still don't think it's in my muscle. It it advisable to take some time off from weights to let this heal?

If pressing the bone on the inside of your elbow causes a little dart of pain then I have the same thing and find rest is the only thing that helps. I find it gets bad when i go up a weight when doing dubmbell curls so it's probably caused by the extra weight resulting in poor technique.

My technique was good despite the extra weight though. Could this take weeks to recover?

Not saying technique is necessarily the reason but if you're only basing your opinion in it then it's possible that your assessment of your technique is off

Can anyone assist my query regarding healing time?

If the little test I mentioned of pressing the the bone on the inside of the elbow causes a dart of pain, then you have the same thing I get now and then and usually a week of rest does the trick.
Regarding bad technique causing it, if you feel it twinge during a movement that's a decent indicator that the action is causing the problem even if you're doing it exactly as shown in a youtube vid of good technique or as demonstrated by a trainer.

It will depends what it is, the extent of what it is, etc etc. In short, time will tell.

Rest and when it is ok to return to doing the exercises, really make sure you're doing them properly.

Noone here can possibly say how long this will take, and it does seem like you are asking for medical advice, sorry.
