I had a car accident over a week ago and my chest is still sore (from the seat belt) i had xrays & they said everything was fine, and to just take painkillers for a week. I'm still sore especially when i get up in the morning and if i cough or sneeze. I also got a really sharp pain when i tryed to lift a box this morning(wasn't really that heavy). I normally workout everyday so it's getting me down now that i can't do it. Has anyone else experienced this? i'm just wondering is this normal? does it usually take a few more weeks to be back to myself? Like i said the nurse just said take painkillers for a few days so i'm wondering is there any point going to my doctor?

Sorry this is probably the wrong place to post this,

I fell a couple of years ago and banged my breastbone/sternum, didnt break or fracture anything but it was bruised. I had the exact same feelings you have ie pain when coughing, limited mobility etc. If your xrays are clear then there isnt much you can do except ride it out Im afraid.

    Hi OP,

I'm afraid we can't offer any medical advice on boards. Best thing you can do if you're still concerned is contact a doctor.
Hope you have a speedy recovery,
    Sauve
