Adobe vs Corel – Some Clarification Needed

    I am looking into alternatives to Adobe Creative Cloud and am finding the information regarding the Corel Suite overly complex. There does not seem to be a single package that covers everything in the Adobe Suite.

    Essentially the Adobe Creative Suite / Cloud programmes I have experience with and, from what I can tell, the equivalent (or close there too) from Corel are the following:

    Acrobat = PDF Fusion
    PDF Fusion is a stand-alone product not included as part of any package.

    After Effects = AfterShot 2
    The basic AfterShot 2 version comes included with PaintShop Pro whereas there is a Pro version available as a stand-alone product.

    Illustrator = CorelDRAW X7

    InDesign = no direct equivalent but most features are covered in CorelDRAW

    Photoshop = PaintShop Pro or Photo-Paint
    PhotoShop is a stand-alone product but can be bundled with VideoSuite at a reduced price. Photo-Paint is part of CorelDRAW. I am unsure of the difference between the two programmes.

    Premiere Pro = VideoSuite X7
    There is a basic and ultimate version, both of which are stand-alone products, but the basic can be bundled with PhotoShop.


    My questions are the following:
    1. Is the above is correct?
    2. What is the difference between PaintShop Pro and Photo-Paint?
    3. Other than 64-bit support, are the upgraded / ultimate versions worth the extra cost?
    4. Anyone who has used both suites, how do you find they compare (outside of the obvious re-familiarisation and fan-boy answers)?

    After Effects is better than AfterShot, but AfterShot is for RAW photo editing, not motion graphics. PaintShop Pro is a standalone photo editor. Photo-Paint works well with CorelDRAW for vector workflows. Ultimate versions often come with extra tools/plugins, but check to see if they meet your needs. Corel tools can compete with Adobe for cost-conscious users, but Adobe still leads in features for certain pro workflows.
