You can (only?) upload an image that is your own and which is to be found somewhere on the web.

thanks Picaaf, I decided to dig a little deeper - as Ive often posted images and have received replies saying - "cant see you image" & "no image" etc.

From the help desk

Why don't my images display? What is remote loading?
Posting images is disabled on some forums and so your attempt to embed an image into a post will result in a link to the image.

If you're linking an image from another site, they may have some code in place that blocks you. This is also known as "hot-linking" and a lot of sites that have very heavy traffic do not allow this to save on their own costs.

So its either Google not wanting them linked or boards not offering the service in certain forms.

That to me is crazy in a photography forum - or is it?
I ll look into setting up a flickr account in due course but i dont understand it

instead of f****r account you could try 500px . com (fivehundred p-x dot com) as an online photography community, could be easier.

GPhoto isn't good for "Hotlinking". Use Imgur, Tinypic, Flikr etc.
