Looking for a gadget that includes heart rate monitor

I am looking for a device that syncs to iPhone etc that measures steps, calories, distance etc but also include heart rate monitor. I know that Fitbit does this except the the HRM. But there is one being released in 2015. But I need one before Christmas as it is a gift.
So any suggestions on a good one that is possibly water proof also?

Polar do a HRM that connects to iPhone, not sure if it counts steps though

I have the Polar H7 HRM and it does not count steps.
They sell a stride sensor for that, which I do not know much about.

As the HRM connects to your iphone it does distance and pace from the GPS and location sensors on the phone. The Polar software uses your heart rate to calculate your calories burnt.

The HRM uses bluetooth 4 to talk to the phone but it will also talk to cardio equipment and polar watches too.

Its different form a fit bit or one of those braclet things as it is not mean to be worn permanently.

I think the new apple watch will do heart rate monitoring when it is out in 2015. I don't know if it will be continuous or only used in sport mode, I would suspect it wouldn't be continuous as the power requirements would make the battery life rather limited. Of course this doesn't help you with your christmas shopping OP.

I was looking at this again and there are other options (If you have lots of money to burn that is). Smart clothing seems to be the new thing. Looks very fancy.

http://www.liveathos.com/ (not out yet seems slightly more functional)

Just so you know, It requires a separate heart rate monitor strap to do heart rate.

    Wow... I didn't read it properly...doh!
Thanks so much, so what kind of heart monitor would I need to use with it? Nothing fancy or expensive just something.

The Garmin website suggests a Garmin HRM chest strap as a compatible device.
That particular recommended garmin HRM seems to use Ant+ for communicating so another Ant+ Sensor should also work.

The Polar M400 is the unit you want.

Has everything you want and more! Waterproof to 30m.
