    Hi all,

I want my family and I to start eating healthier, so I want you eating healthy gurus to recommend a blender/juicer, whatever would be best to do juicing of veg/fruit and making soups too. I want to keep as much as possible the nutrients in the food also. I'm willing to spend up to 400euro approx. thank you.

I'd recommend the Nutri Bullet. Fantastic product.

If you want to make soups you want a blender or a processor. But you can't make juice with either of those. Blending and juicing are different things.

You probably need to look at some and decide exactly what you need it for, you won't be able to make soup for a family in a nutri bullet really unless you have a lot of patience.

I've been looking at blenders myself and the Vitamix gets great reviews, but they're really expensive.

I have a 'Magic Bullet'. I've had it for near 7-8 years and still going strong.

Turns everything to dust/juice mind you :P None of this 'chopped nuts' or 'diced vegetables' malarkey. :pac:

I bought a breville one in argos a few weeks back for about €40. It's brilliant for smoothies and shakes, the blending takes place in basically a sports bottle. The blender comes with 4 bottles, 2 small and 2 large all dishwasher safe/

Is it that one? It's almost half price in Argos at the minute.... I just happened to see this thread while looking for something similar myself!

Looking for something simple and quiet for smoothies around the 30-40 quid mark!

If i were you i would hold out until the Nutribullet RX model is released in UK and IReland.

It's only in USA at moment but it's the best nutribullet yet, makes the usual smoothies etc.. and has a soup making function (throw in ingredients makes soup in 7 minutes). You can youtube it and see it in action or just google nutribullet rx.

You could get a cheap one in argos for 40 euro til the RX comes out i guess. OR you could get the Vitamix...(price of an iPhone lol)

Got my Nutribullet on Friday, totally hooked.
Made also almond butter in minutes, have to try crush some ice

Actually I contacted Nutribullet and they said the RX model wont be out in Ireland till mid next year. So i'd get the nutribullet 900 i guess. Check out david wolfe and the 'nutribullet show' on you tube. Also don't forget you can add superfoods to your smoothies too (see www. foodmatters.tv for a list of superfoods). I have Maca/ raw cacao powder/ wheatgrass/ barley grass/ alfalfa/ kelp/ spirulina in my press and add a bit of one of these to each of my green smoothies. Green smoothies are the best cuz its mostly greens but fruit in it too so it tastes sweet and it's a lovely way to start the day :)

As the thread title suggests, you're looking for the best blender. You don't mention budget, but if you're looking for the best blender, you'd want to be looking at the likes of a Blendtec or Vitamix, not the nutri bullet. The nutri bullet is certainly a great value blender, but when it comes to the best, both the Vitamix and Blendtec will outperform it but prices start from about €600 for the consumer models so you have to determine whether or not you'll get your value out of it.

I've had my Blendtec since 2008 and have gotten great use out of it. It's in use constantly, I use it all the time, at least once a day, usually 2/3 times a day, it's had thousands of cycles on it.

If you're willing to invest in the best, then you should be looking at comparisons between the Blendtec and Vitamix.

Here's a comparison of the Nutri Bullet vs the Vitamix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7Isoqe44u4

This guy does really in depth reviews and comparisons, the Blendtec would share most of the points the Vitamix wins over too.

As has been mentioned, a blender and juicer are different, I use my blender much much more than my juicer, but if you want juice from a blender, just get a nut milk bag and strain the mix through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGTZ1ofCRUk

The same can be used for almond milk etc too, I don't bother and prefer a thicker and creamier nut milk :)

I've had a Vitamix for about 4 years now. Think it cost about 550 including delivery at the time - a lot to spend, no doubt.

Its been an excellent investment. It really does everything - nut milk, nut butter, smoothies, soups, sauces and juices. In the beginning I was getting nut milk bags on ebay but they wore out after a while, now I just use muslin cloth ( much cheaper ) which does the same job.

I had to replace the drive socket recently due to it burning out. This was my own fault for storing part of the lid inside then turning it on. Got it on ebay and easy to install.

Everyone thought I was cracked spending that much on a blender but its a solid piece of kit that makes everything else in the kitchen look crap. :)
