    LINK

Offering an €8 discount on 1st purchase, so some bargains possible, but only offering a small range from what I can see (although shipping will be a helluva lot faster I expect!).

What are the conditions of the coupon - it mentions 'win'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Doodlebug

Haven't tried it yet, but it does show the coupon code at the top of the page (valid 'til end of Nov), so looks like you can just use it at the checkout.

Seems to be a good selection of items, not just the ones on the Ireland page, wonder if you would still be hit with customs? Delivery times seem to be good if they keep to it.

The whole idea is that the selection of items they advertise are shipped from their EU warehouse so no customs and faster shipping times

Voucher is $8 off $40 spend, so up to 20% off

"Register EU DIRECT ID and subscribe our newsletter, you'll receive:

$8 Coupon for any order of $40 or more. Only to subscribe for the first time and each email address can only get once. The latest updates on new product releases and member-only coupon codes."

It says free delivery on orders over "$30" (Probably means €30).

DX don't do free shipping for everything anymore?

I've found DX to be pretty rubbish in the last year. Postage takes an absolute age, and that's if it arrives at all. And before you all jump on me about the postage, we're talking 2/3 months here, where as before it would be 1. I'd shop elsewhere these days.

Had a look there. Think the main site is all free postage. Seems to be just stuff from the european site has the minimum order for free postage.

They have 2 websites http://www.dx.com they old website with free shipping and https://eud.dx.com (EU Direct)

They eud.dx.com that ships to Ireland and you do not pay customs but all the items were under more or less €30 (after exchange rate) to avoid customs, if you order more than $30 they will break the order into small parcels so you won't be hit by customs.

To get free shipping you need to spend $30. FAQ here

The items are posted from China, my last order placed on the 18th, posted on the 24th oct and arrived at my door exactly 2 weeks. Parcels go via Netherlands

So the items that you ordered from the EU Direct site came from China too?

Yes, more info here, shipping is faster but for small items will keep using the main website.

Any purchase under €22 is exempt from customs anyway so if you're spending less than that it's not worth using the new site.

5 - 7 day shipping is a huge plus, main site was a nightmare waiting for stuff to arrive. Couldn't even order now and be sure it would be here before Christmas!

Banggood.com (yes that is the address!) - these are now my first stop for cheap Chinese stuff and they are fast for shipping ~ 2 weeks
    Buyincoins.com
    Suntekstore.co.uk
    Focalprice.com

As an aside, if you are into electronics/circuit design tayda electronics are the bees knees of Chinese parts suppliers and use genuine parts

Myself and a family member made orders around the same time back in AUGUST. Items no showed. Reshipped. Half of it arrived friday. Still waiting on one package myself and one for the family member.

First time we've ever had a problem with em. Disappointing.

EDIT: An item was also DOA, always a risk but a kick in the teeth after waiting ages.

    +1 on that.

I had an order placed earlier in the year and after 4 weeks it hadnt arrived and when I contacted them they were still insisting that it was posted and pleading for me to wait "another few days". Week after week I contacted them and it was the usual **** so after 8 or 9 weeks of waiting I cancelled.

Similar thing happned last year also. Never again would I order from them.

Couldnt say no to a mini drone from EUD with the 8$ coupon. FWIW there's no tracking number on EUD dispatches it seems :/ You'd think they would with PostNL.

EDIT: no wait, Im blind but their formatting sucks.

Ordered some bits 21st November. Still in China.
Seems like you are paying more but still getting the slow boat from China delivery.
I'd pay those prices if there was a european warehouse and the stuff arrived 4-5 working days later.

I've had stuff ordered on eBay and delivered from China within the time I'm waiting for these to leave China. :(

Now, maybe it is actually in Ireland - the tracking system is complete gibberish. Initially I had an estimated delivery date of yesterday, that has now disappeared from the site. It also told me on Wednesday morning that the package had arrived somewhere on Thursday. mmm time travel.

dx over the last year have gotten so slow. longest wait was 4 months with the shortest being 3 weeks. wouldn't bother ordering anything from them now. ebay will be much quicker plus dx support sucks big time they might be quick enough to respond but you always get fobbed off just not worth the hassle.

Tracking number should show in NL before it gets to Ireland, at least that was my case. But as you mine also was quick, couple of weeks or so.

That was eud.dx that I ordered from (as eud.dx is the subject of the thread). Had hoped for better.
I tried the tracking number in the link they provided. Hmmm will try an post later.

edit - an post computer say no.

Our Item Tracking system has not recognised the number(s) that you have entered. Please check that you have entered the correct number(s), or we may not have yet received the item(s).

    Still in China I guess.

An item I've ordered from eud.dx has been stopped by customs and I have to pay import duty, etc. on it.

Turns out the items are shipped from China and VAT, etc. isn't paid on them. Basically it is exactly the same as the regular site just more expensive. You've been warned.

Thanks for the heads up. What a joke. There's actually something I want on DX that I can't seem to find anywhere else...at this stage I would rather not give them the money.

I thought all the items in the eud.dx.com were under about $30 so that no duty will be paid on them, contact them and ask them for a partial refund to cover the customs charge. Looks like hapening to other people on the forum, you can open a ticket here

WTF - I though the point of eud.dx rather than the main site was that they had some legit import deal and taxes/duty were handled!

    Actual situation is :
    "
Q: Do we need to pay extra GST or duty for EU direct parcels ?
A: We will endeavor to send the parcels to all EU customers without any tax or duty. All packages will be declared the value blow €22. When it is held by customs inspection, you should need to pay the tax and duty.
    "

FFS, it's not significantly faster and you still get stung for VAT. The value does indeed blow.

    No from eud.dx.com

On the main dx.com website you can pay for expedite shipping but even in that case I wouldn't be too confident you would get it by the 24th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Doodlebug

So, I ordered some stuff from the EU site (http://eud.dx.com) on the 1st of December. Arrived today (17th December). Very pleased with the items I ordered and the delivery time (certainly compared to the regular www.dealextreme.com site), so that's a few Xmas prezzies sorted!

    Some info:
    > I used the code mentioned in my first post. As long as you are ordering over US$30 it worked.
    > Shipping was free (again, as long as your order is over $30)
    > 17 days from order to delivery (regular delivery option chosen)

From some of the earlier comments, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

    Bad points:
    > When using the EU site, it is very easy to end up on the main (Chinese) site! I found this especially when searching on the site for particular items. I'd advise that when you are on a product page, check the address bar to see if the URL shows the EU site to be sure.

    > The selection is more limited than the main site and the prices slightly higher (although not too much on most items).

    Plus Points:

    > Shipping time - as has been pointed out by others, the main DX site can often take 3 months (and 4-6 months is not unheard of!). Within 3 weeks from the EU site is pretty good I think.

I had a happy ending. My items cost €26, just €4 over the €22 no customs charge limit. I reported the correct amount of €26 to customs and they released it for free to me, no charges, duties, etc.!

Good guys in customs! I figure they took pity for being only a few euro over.

But despite this good luck, my warning about eud.dx still stands, all it offers over dx.com is speedier delivery. You may still get caught for customs.

Thing is, my order included 5 lights, which if I had known, I could have ordered separately from dx.com, they would have come under the €22 each easily. But then you have to spend more then $30 to get free delivery on eud.dx.com, so a bit of a catch 22 there.

Cool, customs wouldn't be widely known for giving happy endings...
