It’s hard to make comparisons without knowing the ins and outs of a deal but anyway to give something to compare with my sister was getting her 151 1.6tdi comfortline serviced in August and was offered a deal to go into a 181 1.6tdi comfortline with no deposit and a monthly payment increasing from 320 to about 335 a month. Unfortunately for a number of reasons (unrelated to the car or deal) she wasn’t able to go for it at that time.

That sounds very cheap! Audi wanted 7K cash plus 150 per month extra to go from a 151 A4 to a 181!

I called into the dealer last weekend to discuss a change for 2019. My pcp deal is due to expire sometime in Feb.

To move into a Golf with the same spec as mine (new 1.5TSi) and no contribution from me my monthly will increase by €123 to €413.
Did he have prices for the 1.5tsi I presume highline model.

interestingly the 1.5 tsi not on the Irish VW configurator.

You're not the guy I met at the first runway club day in the red R by any chance?

Yup, you were in the Fiesta ST I think.

Ah, i have you now! Yup that was me, got well beaten by pretty much everything that day, except a GT86! I mapped it after that, made a fair difference. The ST wasn't a straight line speed kinda car, great fun in the twisties though.

The red R was very nice, where did that end up?

Prices are in the finance calculator.
    http://www1.volkswagen.ie/finance/

    Highline 1.5 TSi 150 BHP DSG 5 doors €31,895.00

    Highline 1.5 TSi 150 BHP Manual 5 doors €29,995.00

Must get in and get prices myself for the wifes car but I'm more interested in the same engine in the Leon FR or the 2.0 Tsi 190bhp version

Exactly, there are two versions of the larger screen. Ones where the bottom left button is a Mute button can't have it activated (you'll usually see these in Trendline and Comfortline cars with the Aluminium dash inserts). If the bottom left button says Voice, you are good to go.

    I was quoted €32,291 for a manual.

Plus €775 dealer delivery €621 metallic wonder what the other ~€900 is for. Wonder has price changed.

You probably have tech pack for €699?

There's a €1000 purchase contribution to come off too listed on offer page.

I’ll get the exact numbers off her again but it stood out to me as a great deal. Al Hayes of course.

Bought my last 4 car's of him until the Audi which was purchased in Cork, I really regret buying there and not going back to him. Great service and no bull****!

Back to the lease company and sold on I’d imagine and I did see it on a Dublin dealers forcourt.

That must be the first post I've ever read praising that garage!

My car has the earlier version with the smaller screen. It has a voice button but this effectively is a mute button. I presume this earlier unit can't be updated?

Sounds like it's a MIB1, so unfortunately not no.

THought so, the maps on it don't seem to have been updated in a few years either, went to download the update file and it was going to take me 3 hours! If anyone has the files downloaded that email them on it would be appreciated!

Also ordered OBD11 last week so should have that soon, will be making a few tweaks with it.

We are buying cars of him for decades (multiple family members) as would all around our locality I’ve never seen another dealer get even close to his prices.

Downloading them from a email will be the same (you won’t be able to email such a large file either).

I wouldn't even bother doing it anyway. If you need nav use your phone. Built in nav is pants. Current one in the bm often takes unusual routes, only I know the road. The vw one took me the scenic route home from mondello when I didn't know any better.

Wouldn’t send my worst enemy to Al Hayes. Deal with them at your own (considerable) risk imo.

@Hooch it’ll be a 15-20GB file (at least), not something that can be emailed ;) I did it for the father’s Tiguan recently. It did take a good hour or so to download it. And you have to extract it (the Zip file) onto the SD card that’s in your car.

Those options aren't available in the configurator?

Turns out I've two leaking front shocks, and the car was in for a service last week! This wasn't picked up by the dealer other than advisories to replace the front pads and rear tyres.

    Hi everyone
Sorry for butting in on this forum but have a VRT problem
I recently imported 2005 VW 3dr golf gti fsi manual from the north went to vrt it at the weekend girl behind the counter says don't have a statistical code for it so she'd get onto revenue and they'll be on during the week, anyway got a text to call the nct crowd, girl on the phone says yeah have the amount here for yah! That'll be €9.658 please, ah says i it's not a new one I have, yeah 2005 she says.. FFS...She’s emailed revenue and have come back with the same figure.
I would be very grateful if anyone has one or knows someone who has the same car as above and who can get the statistical code from their vehicle registration cert and pass it on where then I can just input that in the vrt calculator and get the actual figure please

That’s shocking (pardon the pun!) - I think you said you were in Cork before so I’m going to guess that that brilliant service is from the monopoly VW/Audi representatives in the county. I’m not surprised that they didn’t find that and that they threw out the usual “brake pads and/or discs need to be replaced” money-spinner.

Are you sure it's not €965.80? Can't be right, if you put your cars details into the calculator what kind of a rate are you getting?

Something way off, it must be 965 euro, just ran similar details through the ROS art calculator and got 596 euro VRT.

2005 is mk 5 200ps. Code for that is probably 40488203 which give u a figure of 607 euros.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 689 ✭✭✭Skippy along

Thanks Dave your spot with that.. But Mrs Vrt had €912 in mind, FFS had to pay it this afternoon.. The car is a 3dr tornado red Dec 2005 75000 miles in as new condition with leather factory xenons and sat nav 18 monza diamond alloys winter pack so I'm thinking the extras were the difference in price was going to appeal it but not sure

They don't charge VRT on extras on a 13 year old car.

Did you see the shocks yourself?

VW shocks particularly have a tendency to "sweat" a little oil when new, which will leave a damp mark just around the top of the body of the shock, running an inch or two down, usually it's spotted by dry dust/ dirt stuck to it.

It's more often the case that a dealer will spot a small sweat and deem it acceptable and not necessary to replace the shock, where as some smaller outfits will refer to it as an active leaking/ burst shock and upsell you a set of shocks.

This link isn't great but it gives you an idea. The theory is simple enough though, if the body of the shock isn't wet, it isn't leaking.
