I've had an annoying rattle in my right ear the last few weeks. Couldn't figure out what it was but it sounds like a blown speaker :(

I'm assuming this is a warranty job?

Had a similar rattle in my last Golf it was a loose seat adjuster .. give it a tap and see if it makes a noise repaired by my local dealer..

I'm hoping someone can answer this question here. I'm looking to import a Golf R from the UK.
I was checking the VRT site and it showed 2 options for Golf R.
    Golf R 4x4 300ps 5Dr Auto
    and
    Golf R 300ps 5Dr Auto
Theirs about 1200 in the difference in price. How would I know which I will be charged at for bringing in a Golf R as all are AWD?

Check the co2 on both models. It will show it on the final page. Compare it with the model you want to import. Older cars had 6 speed dsg, newer ones are 7 so co2 is different I believe.

Both show 159 on emissions on the vrt site.
Their is a 310 ps version with 160 on emissions. Maybe thats the one you pointed out?

    Well wear.
I probably have one (it's the "product guide" that you really want) buried in emails somewhere. Will see if I can dig it out. But the specs today aren't much different to what they were in 152, so even the current product guide would give you a fair idea. Current product guide is here.

I had a 152 myself - if you have specific questions on the spec, post them here, I'm sure I'd be able to answer them...

CarPlay was only coming available around mid 2015 (MIB 2), and it was standard only if the Pro Nav (large 8" screen) was spec'd.
If you have the smaller, standard Nav, then its not likely you have CarPlay unless the previous owner retro-activated it (dealers will charge to do this). But assuming your car has MIB 2, then it can be activated - for a price (~300).

Thanks , should have asked the question last night and got it thrown in

Have you a pic of the radio? How late a 152 is it? (there's always a possibility that a 152 car has MIB 1, and if thats the case you're **** out of luck - can't be retro activated then).

Saying that, I had it activated in mine. Its not great tbh. Looks nice on the screen but its buggy and generally half baked functionality-wise.

Does the badge infront of your gear stick look like this....

    golf-r-4motion-awd.JPG

If so then yours is face lift and it can be retrofitted as you'll have mib2 radio.

I wouldn't bother though. We have it in wife's car and rarely use it myself

In all probability it has MIB 2. I assume it doesn't have the larger screen (Pro Nav)?

Assuming MIB2 and its not pro-nav, then carPlay can be activated, but only by the dealers and they'll charge you in or around 300 quid. If you sit into the car now and press the MEDIA or MENU button (can't remember which), you should see "App-Connect" as one of the options. If thats there, select it. If its activated it should be obvious - if its not, a message will appear on the screen telling you to go to the dealers to get it activated.

This caught my eye this morning... mostly cos VW have gone and painted the GTI the same colour as my car ;)

It's the "TCR" GTI which is apparently going to be available later in the year. If you read through the marketing blurb, its effectively the Clubsport all over again with a nip and tuck here and there...

"it has the potential to be quicker and more exciting than a Golf R in the right hands."

... you tempted Joe? :D

    lol.
It'd depend on even if VW Ireland bring it in and if they do, where it's pitched price wise. Similar to Clubsport? Which was a couple of hundred cheaper than an R. Or loads of cash more? If the latter, then it makes little/no sense.

Yeah, I saw pics of a 5 door version somewhere, so I'm sure that would be available too.

Just ordered a set of Michelin PS4's. Good choice?

I've seen this mentioned a few times recently, why do/don't people like 5-door cars?

I don't think they look any worse.

Good choice. I'm also a fan of the F1 Goodyear asymmetric. Just make sure you get the extra load version, although it could be that the extra load tyre is the only version offered..

Best there is for a gti/gtd in my opinion. Had them as my last set before I went back to eagle f1's. Grip is exceptional in wet or dry. The compound is relatively soft so they'll wear quicker.

Looking at selling my 14 VW CC 177 dsg as I no longer do the mileage with my new job. I had a mk 4 GTi and a mk 5 GTi before switching to diesel about 10 year ago.
Crazy what the dealers are offering on trading in.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get into a 14 or 15 GTi with performance pack and maybe dsg if possible. Is the performance pack with the extra?

Is there much to be saved on c.2016/17 R's on import from the UK? VRT is hefty enough

Not really at all considering the cost is very close. There will be a much larger choice though. Vrt is a lot and most of the UK spec cars have 18” Cadiz alloys and a lot don’t even have nav.

Not sure what you mean by with the extra? They always have red GTI lettering and usually have PP beside their name in adds.

If you don't mind me asking what type of offers have they made on the cc?

Lol I ment to type, worth the extra. Predictive text.
On average I've been asked for between 8k and 9k to change. Which is valuing my car at on average 16k 16.5k . The dealers are trying to have their cake and eat it. I thought I was being realistic in expecting to pay 5-6k at a push for the same year...
