In my experience these kind of laptops (super cheap) never have a long life, They work fine for maybe a year and become unbearably slow, making you replace them again.

Whats your budget? You'll be surprised the laptops you can get online

My budget would be in or around €300. it won't be getting the usage to justify spending a lot of money on it.

Honestly, €300 is a lowish buget for a new laptop. Would you consider a refurbished one? For the same money, you could get a very well taken care of, business grade laptop which way probably well over €1000 new. It will be better built, ie. steel hinges and metal casing, and has been designed to be reliable. Some even come with over a years warranty.

I'm not trying to plug this specific company, but I have had zero problems with the HP I bought from them.

    Something like this ?

I'd be worried I'll be in the same position as I am as my current laptop is a similar age if not younger than some of these (don't have the spec with me to post up)

The thing to remember is, computers don't get any slower with age. They get slower because more and more software gets loaded onto them over time. Many software packages will continuously run in the background, checking for upgrades, scanning for viruses, etc, etc. Different brands will all be equally affected by this kind of thing.

It might be best to re-install windows, and get rid of all the rubbish that tends to build up over time.
