The Ginger Beard Problem

After starting this thread, I rekindled my red-flamed beard, but it's now looking ridiculous against the contrast of the rest of my dark hair.

I want to go down the beard dye route, but pharmacies don't seem to run my exact hair color.

My question is, can I use normal hair dye, and rub it in with a moustache brush?

I really don't want the skin on my face to change color. I have work tomorrow, and would greatly prefer not have to show up like a racist impersonating a black man.

One day you'll find a grey hair in your beard OP, it's all downhill from there.

    OP
Is your hair very dark with ginger beard?

    Or more like mine?

Blonde(ish) hair and full ginger beard?

I say just roll with your natural beard colour, nothing if that dye sh1t€

You are right to shave it off OP. The world does not need any more ginger hair. On the plus side, as you have decent skin etc, no one need ever know...

I tried to grow a beard a few months back, but had to shave it all off when part of it turned ginger. It wasn't ginger to begin with, it turned ginger. And only in one area.

What kind of messed-up phenomenon is this among the Irish male?

Now that it's Movember, I'm seeing ginger facial hair all around me. Most of the guys who suffer from gingerbeard are, like myself, not even ginger. Most claim not to even know any gingers.

I tan for crying out loud. I deserve better than this.

    What's happening?

Is this a strongly Irish phenomenon? Are many of us carrying the ginger gene, or what? How can we rid ourselves of ginger beards?

    Wear it with pride.

No my hair is dark. Like dark, dark brown; perhaps just one subtle tone lighter than black. If you saw me on the street, you'd probably think I am a ginger who dyes his hair black and forgets his ginger beard.

Anyway if anybody, maybe a hairdresser, knows whether normal hair dye will be OK to dye your facial hair, that'd be great thanks...
