    Help please!

My son really wants the Xbox one for Christmas and the main use he will put it to is to play Minecraft online with his friend. I have just found out that his friend has an Xbox 360.

Will my lad still be able to play online with his friend even though they will have different versions of the Xbox?

    Thanks

    Unfortunately not:

"Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live, and the Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play with the other editions of Minecraft. "

Thanks for that. Decisions to be made now!

It's no decision at all, the 360 is still a brilliant console with a massive catalogue of great games. The new One (and even the PS4) are not worth the sort of money they're on offer for because there are maybe 5 or 6 decent games worth buying for them at the moment.

If he gets pissy about getting the "old" console, remind him that because you didn't have to spend €400 and instead got it for €250, you had all the extra cash for buying his XBox Gold account (you need this for playing online - it's about €60 in the shops, but if you shop around online you'll get it as low as €35-€39 - you'll need this for the XBone anyway too), an extra controller to play with his friend when he calls over and a pile of games.
