I was in the background of a piece on some RTE morning show in NUIM.

I've also been spotted in the crowd at Dalymount.

    I'm bloody famous.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Had a few close ups at some Rugby matches that was on the TV.

I was on Blackboard Jungle, won one, lost one. Almost singlehandedly pulled it out of the bag in the quick fire round after making a balls of the four point bonus question, whatever they called it (thought it was a trick). Ray D'Arcy complimented me on my general knowledge. You know you've made it when D'Arcy thinks you're smart.

My trick used to be standing on Hill 16 in a direct line with the black spot on the crossbar and the TV cameras in the Hogan Stand. In addition to this I would wear a colour not worn by either of the competing teams, such as an orange t-shirt while watching Kildare v Meath.

I don't know how to put this but....

I was the guy who slipped on the ice on RTE News.

I still get drinks bought for me out of the infamy

I was stopped walking down a street and interviewed live on the evening news in Turkey the night Pope JP11 died. They stopped me to ask where I was from told them I was Irish but forgot to say not a catholic.
Funny night the Turks were big fans of Pope JP11 they were very sad over his death

I was the star of Reuters' news coverage of the smoking ban in Ireland. Sitting at the bar in O'Donoghue's on Merrion Row in Dublin, suppin' stout & puffin' on a B&H.

I was interviewed on the way to croke park for the Sunday game. For my eternal shame I had a good few beers in me. Thank god no one had sky plus back then.

When I was in college, a few people said they saw me on a few different current affairs programmes in shots they show of the masses walking along the street, usually to do with unemployment. I know that one was on UTV. I was spotted because of my height.

I spotted myself on the highlights of a Kildare match standing behind the goals. I'm tall and I always wear black so it was handy enough to see it was me.

I wouldn't want to be properly on a television programme.

    (Just improperly.)

I was in a pipe band years ago, in South Africa, and in addition to a few appearances on the news, we did a concert with a symphony orchestra that was broadcast nationally. My 15 minutes, puffing away in to a howling sheep's stomach.

(Trivia: a bagpipe can only be tuned to itself: you have to adjust the reed so that the notes are in tune with each other, not some external reference, unless you change the reed. So the whole orchestra had to re-tune to match the bagpipes ... no wonder I gave the bloody thing up.)

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

The German word for bagpipes is dudelsacken.
Just thought everyone should know ... dudelsacken.

I like to go to count centres on the day of general elections. After the victors are announced I strategically place myself behind the TV cameras as the winner is being interviewed on national TV. I give thumbs up, wave to the camera and call people to tell them I'm on TV. I have no dignity.

This summer I was on a guided tour of Sarajevo, a news crew came along to film us on the tour. Never got to watch it though.

Also my photo was on The Den for my 6th birthday :D

About being seen "behind the goals" at matches, there's a girl on my Facebook who's consumed by this. Every time she goes to a game she posts some grainy picture, saying "see those 6x5 pixels in the top left? That's me!". Just comes across a little needy.

I was in a background shot on RTE at a live broadcast at the young scientist exhibition when I was around 13. I was making a 'wanker' motion with my hand and thought I was hilarious. My parents didn't think it was as funny.

I was my school team captain on BBJ, we lost in the first round.

I was on some Irish Language show back when I was in 5th or 6th class, reading a poem.

Finally, I was on Nationwide or something similar when they did a piece about Boards.ie, they interviewed me about the football team.

I've been on the tube a few times now.

One of my favorites was where I was doing a show for national TV giving Italian lessons. So me with my teenage/breaking/thick Dub(Northside) accent trying to pronounce Italian words eloquently. They added subtitles to my bits.

Back in the late 90's, TG4 made a programme where Niall Tobin went back to his old school to reminisce about his years there. An Irish speaking school.

Michael Davitt, the poet, was directing the programme and for this segment Niall was standing at the top of the classroom regaling us, the 6th year's with anecdotes. I got to ask a question which was given to me, so I knew I would get to be on the programme, in all my handsome glory, and not in the background in a 'pause or you'll miss it' cameo appearance.

The question was "Did you ever take part in amatuer drama's suring your school years".

Being a one camera set up, they filmed me Niall's response first. Then Davitt turned the camera to me and told me to ask the question again so it could be edited in again.

So there's me, giving the same question the full Gielgud treatment, and smart arse Tobin pipes up in that faux outraged actor way "I do believe I've been asked this question already?!?".

Davitt explains the situation and Niall gives a nonchalant shrug.

So yeah, I was on the telly once :)

A slowed down shot of me clapping was used at the end of the credits of a rugby match I was at. My parents rang me to tell me they had seen it. My mum criticised my clapping style :p .

Was on the news interviewed by Sharon Ní Bheoláin. Nothing too exciting though, just a thing about our company. Also on TV3 morning show, for the same reason. Whatever that show is with the weatherman as the host.

Theres an interview from.. March 2008? Whenever GTA 4 came out for the PS3. I bunked the morning off school to go get it, came out of HMV, and was interviewed by GMTV for it. I went to school, think I told them I had a dentist appointment or something, then it turned out my form teacher saw me on the tv, and I got a week of detention :(

I did a walk on bit on Gerry Ryans SECRETS - there were a good few of us. They were giving us free beer before hand and I bleedin' tripped as I was walking out but luckily I was still behind a masking flat, so had righted myself before I was in shot.

I was on Secrets too, making cocktails!

I was interviewed for German TV at a protest, no idea if it was used or not.

I've been in crowd shots at rugby matches many times.
