Decided to see if meteor had any stock left of these and was expecting to pay 180€ for this as that was the price online, but when I got to the meteor shop it was only €160.
So picked this up for the missus for Xmas.
    Cheapest I've seen around.

4g one always had micro SD card support. Only the non 4g old version had no micro SD card.

You can order them in via Parcel Motel from Tesco Direct for £110 sterling. Available in both black and white.

Think this is about €145. Unlock codes available on ebay for €1.50.

How do these compare to the newer Samsungs (S4/S5)? Have a Note 4 myself but thinking this might make a good Xmas pressie...

    Also, any network branding?

No TM are not on 4G and no plans to in the near future either.

Would the €15 PAYG free calls be better than the €10 contract and then just buy text and bundles as you need them?

You'd think so at that price. That would be an amazing deal if it was the 2nd gen. I want the 5" model. Cracking phone.

I don't think Henry Street or Grafton Street sell phones, too much competition on the high street.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭dquinnan

The phone locks to the network of the first sim that's inserted and powered on, so if the box is sealed and meteor haven't inserted a sim then any sim will work.

I think I might get the 5" one too instead. Not much point having a 4g enabled phone as I intend staying with tescomobile.

Is it possible to buy the Moto G with a 4.5" screen + 16gb RAM + Micro SD slot? I've searched all over and cannot find this combination anywhere :confused::confused:

As far as I can see the options with a Moto G with a 4.5" screen are as follows...

    4.5" screen + 8GB RAM + Micro SD Slot
4.5" screen + 16GB RAM + NO Micro SD Slot

I'm not sure if there is a moto g with 16gb ROM and a micro SD,think there's only with 8gb ROM.
There is one with 16gb but it doesn't have a micro SD slot.

Yeah, that's what I though:( I think I'd prefer to go for the 8GB version with the microSD slot, looks like I may not have a choice, thanks for confirming, thought I was losing it there for a minute:pac:

No bother.. 8gb is plenty and you can just transfer everything over to your SD card so should be no worries about running out of space. :D.

Anyone know if meteor are offering the latest 5" version of this phone? The 4.5 inch seems to be gone off their website so wondering if the cheaper ones are clearance stock in stores

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,449 ✭✭✭livEwirE

In case anyone is interested, when I got mine I was told there were 10 of the 4.5" version left in Meteor Blanchardstown :)

Tescomobile.is have one on their website for 149.99, is this the same one as in Meteor stores? I'm in need of a new phone, as my faithful Samsung mini is getting sluggish. I like the look of the moto G, is there a newer model than this?

It seems it's the old model. They also have "Moto G 5" which seems to be the 5 inch 4G model for 179.99.

That's the 8gig model, with pre-installed software you're probably looking at just over 5gig available to you and you can't expand this storage space with that model...

The 2nd Gen Moto G with the 5" screen is only 3G. They haven't launched it in 4G yet. If you want 4G it is currently only available with a 4.5" screen.

2nd gen. The 4.5" inch 4g model with a micro SD card slot .

Calling them all Moto G and releasing them so close together has confused things a bit. There's been three versions of the Moto G so far.

First: 3G, no SD card slot, 4.5 inch screen, 5MP camera
Second: 4G, SD card slot, 4.5 inch screen, 5MP camera (aka Moto G LTE/4G)
Third: 3G, SD card slot, 5 inch screen, 8MP camera (aka Moto G (2014))

For this thread, the second one is available from Meteor, the third one from Tesco. Choosing between the second and third depends on what you find more important: 3G vs. 4G, screen size, camera.

There's also rumours of a fourth version, a 4G version of the 2014 model. When that turns up, however...

Just a few days ago I bought the Moto G 4G to upgrade my current Moto G, got it from Tesco Direct and paid exactly €147.

For B&M this is a great price!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Tesco direct isn't technically B&M though. i'm guessing you bought through Parcel Motel?
