Meanwhile, I have just got myself a big "hole in the water, I can pour money into". Very happy at the moment and very poor, too :)

Have a read, and a look at the pictures:

I will have many questions to the better informed here, so will keep the thread alive.

Congrats hope you get alot of enjoyment out of it. Sounds like you knew what you wanted and were after from the start even if it involved time, searching and travel. It makes all the more enjoyable getting what you wanted,

Good choice of boat! I had 7 fun filled years on a hurley 22, a well capable boat. I have moved on to a club shamrock 33 now but still miss the easy sailing on the hurley.

Hi, I am upgrading the electrical system on the boat, installing a battery selector switch, and a volt meter. Would anyone knowledgeable have a look, if I am planning it right? (Hope the link works.)

    Thanks.

Congrats on the new boat. I can't sea any of the links :( not sure it's because you only have 50 posts or there is something missing from the link.

That looks fine, more or less the same as the image I have.

Great, thanks fergal.b, interesting to note, that I used a three way switch before the volt meter to farther reduce energy consumption, while on a power boat it is not a concern... :)

The strong winds are back this week, so maybe you want to watch about sailing, instead of being out on the water this week and the weekend. Here is my video account of solo sailing around Ireland, just a couple of weeks ago. Hope you will enjoy it.

Well done what a great adventure. It could be a late night I still have a few more to watch :)

I watched some bits (my parts of the coast). Congratulations, a great achievement!

My only observation so far will hopefully be taken as constructive criticism - you had an autohelm running, and went forward without tethering yourself to the boat (~3:30 on the first video). Had you fallen overboard, your boat would have kept on going without you, leaving you to enjoy the lovely cold water that surrounds Ireland at this time of year. Were you carrying a PLB?

Some enjoyable time I spent on the boat (Warning! Diesel engine-porn, mixed with some fibreglass and painting job.)

Nice job, you were lucky you coped it before it got up and ran away :)

Hi, I made it to Lisbon after leaving from Dun Laoghaire at the end of September. A week or two rest here before I hit the road (well, the sea) again.

    Great blog

It was nearly (or more than?) three weeks before I could get away from Lisbon due to the unusual SW winds. Porto Santo and Madeira followed, and now I am in Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. A few days maintenance and rest, then leaving for Las Palmas for a longer break before the real sailing begins.

Might be time for an update? After Ecuador came the Marquises Islands (Hiva Oa, Tahuata, Fatu Hiva, Nuku Hiva, Uo Pou) then the Tuomotus and I finished French Polynesia with Papeete, Tahiti. It was three weeks to sail to the Kingdom of Tonga, then off to Fiji where I had to wait three painful days in quarantine before I was cleared in. Staying in Suva for a few days before west-west again.
