2 Fight night cards taking place this weekend, Didn't see much need for a thread for both.

Admittedly I only renewed my Fight Pass for the Swanson Edgar bout at the end of the month but anyways...

I doubt I'll watch both should watch the one in Oz most likely the co-mains on both cards are arguably more interesting than the main events.

The Brazil cards main event is less interesting as OVP looked awful in his last bout against Ryan Bader and is rewarded with an opportunity to beat Shogun on his own turf should he win its surely the end of the road for Shogun.

The Lineker and Uncle Creepy fight is surely a #1 contender bout shame thats not on the Oz card would make missing the Shogun card so much easier.

I'm looking forward to seeing Pearson fight again. If he can get Iaquinta down on the mat he'll win this fight easily.

Rockhold-v-Bisping (Pre-lims begin Friday 12am Irish time on Fight Pass, event can also be seen 10pm Saturday on BTSport1)

    It's 12am Saturday, not Friday.
I know you meant at the end of today, but just incase it threw somebody reading the thread.

    Luke Rockhold vs. Michael Bisping
    Al Iaquinta vs. Ross Pearson
    Clint Hester vs. Robert Whittaker
    Walt Harris vs. Soa Palelei
    PRELIMINARY CARD
    Jake Matthews vs. Vagner Rocha
    Guto Inocente vs. Anthony Perosh
    Sam Alvey vs. Dylan Andrews
    Louis Smolka vs. Richie Vaculik
    Chris Clements vs. Vik Grujic
    Daniel Kelly vs. Luke Zachrich
    Marcus Brimage vs. Jumabieke Tuerxun

My picks for the Oz card. Real shame Seery isn't on this. Gutted

    I'm a bit confused here.

When are these cards? I mean, if I consider a PPV to be 3am on Saturday night (rather than the correct time of Sunday morning), when are these cards? Tonight? Tomorrow night?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭adamski8

Im fairly sure 55 is on tonight and 56 tomorrow night.
Weigh ins were done last night for 55 and 56 weigh ins are later today so thats how I always figure it out.

I'm hoping Bisping, Ross and Creepy do the business. Rockhold is beyond annoying and a KO from Mick would be sweet.

Watched the weigh in for Rockhold/Bisping. Can't recall so many fighters needing the towel in one weigh in.

Was slightly lost personally because I'm not used to weigh ins using Kilo's.

56 follows the usual you describe on Sat,55 however is practically tonight (Pre-lims start as Friday becomes Sat) but is on tape delay BTSports wise so if ya wanna watch live you'll have to have Fight Pass/or an unmentionable stream.

Hope that clears it all up

Its 2014 get with the metric system :) ! Its easier and makes perfect sense.

I find it weird many people only know their weight in Stone. Which is 14 pounds and 16 ounces in a pound...

I weigh my in kilos always.
I lift weights in kilos. I eat food in grams.

But if somebody asked me for to name all 10 mma divisions. I could rattle then off in lbs no bother, in kilos I have to think about it. I could only list LW and WW precisely without thinking, as that's my own weight range.

On some cards they announce stone and ounces which always makes me go "wow so that's what it is in stones".

I suppose you are right as we are used to watching the US weigh ins using the 10,15 and 20 pound increments. Sounds nice and round until converted to metric 61kg - 135lbs

I could not rattle off the exact kg for each division either but I would have thought it would be pretty obvious, what division they are talking about.

What time local time are they starting this? Looking at it it's gotta be around the 9/10am mark

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 123 ✭✭osl

Love Bisping but can't see any way he wins this fight. I think Rockhold is Weidman's biggest challenge in the division. Feel like a lot of people have been sleeping on him

Brimage just landed an incredible head kick. Some finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭ASOT

Brimage with an absolutely quality head kick ko followed by a quality kimura from David Kelly who seemed to just walk forward like a zombie, anyone else watching??

Wasnt even going to watch it myself but i cant sleep, decent so far. David Kelly didnt seem to have any technique bar walk forward in the last fight, looked gassed to but pulled off a really nice sub.

Edit - Another KO, shaping up to be a card full of finishes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

That was a vicious knee from Clements to start that flurry off. Grujic ate some serious damage there. Great start to the night.

Vicious knee, wasnt expecting much from the card in general let alone the undercard but this is great! Really hope Bisping shuts up Rockhold. Dont see Bisping getting KO'd, i seem to be in the minority thinking he will win. Its going to be a good fight regardless anyway!

Side kick to the face!! Bloody hell. What a card so far. That was a great fight. Had Smolka down two rounds myself. Huge finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

That finish from Smolka reminded me of Shawn Michaels' 'sweet chin music'.

    :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,901 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Richie was a clear 2 rds ahead. Got caught, unlucky.

He landed a really nice inside leg in rd 1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

That was beautiful technique from Alvey to transition to mount and get the victory.

Yet another victory. Only 2 more fights on the prelims now. :pac:

I think he looks like a younger Bisping... You know... Without all the verbals. :pac:

Are any of the earlier prelims worth watching? I only tuned in in time for the Alvey/Andrews fight.

That was great from Perosh. Such a complete and dominant performance.

What is the record for finishes on a UFC card I wonder? 6 of 6 thus far.

All of them are worth watching in truth.

    Another finish.
Great reffing from John Sharp. Spots the knee drop and cops he's out.

And Jake quotes Conor McGregor I the interview. 50g's baby.

Edit: then gives him a shout out and wants on the Boston card. Can't help but like the kid.

Great first round, can't see this fight going the distance. Whittaker looking good but what about that swinging elbow from Hester

Looking forward to seeing Pearson, But I do think Iaquinta will take this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,901 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Chris Weidman going nuts cage side

    10 fights and 10 finishes
No pressure for the main event.

What a finish by Iaquinta, Weidman going mental in the crowd. Bisping Rockhold time now.
