Inspired by all the romance in the air this fine Sunday morning on Boards - who here has had a successful lurve story on Boards? Would be interesting to know.

Did your eyes meet from across the spoiler tags? Was the emoticon of his/her choosing too much to handle? Or maybe their avatar got you all excited at first glance?

This isn't about making friends though is it?

So what's that got to do with anything.

If the thread was how many people "made friends" on boards well that be different wouldn't it?

Might seem odd at first, but say for example you go to the AH beers next week and you're attracted to someone else who's also at the beers, would it be weird to meet them again just because they originated on boards? Or would it be worth giving it a go because they're hot?

I know you're not single so it doesn't apply directly to you, but think about if you were!

There are quite a few boards couples/marriages/babies possibly even some upandcoming divorces!!

It's just another way of meeting people really :)

Nope but I'm married to someone that I met from another (now gone) message board. She asked to meet up, we became friends, and then a few years later we started going out.

I'm married to a Boardsie. It's like being married to a regular person but obviously we only communicate through PM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Right so going over again my original statement was meant for idea of meeting someone on here and having a relationship threw here for the most part as a lot people do online.

I wasn't talking bout meeting someone at a beers or talking on here and meeting up.

I've met plenty of people online in all kinds situations there's good and bad to it. I just think only way it actually has a chance oof working is if you meet them sooner than later because it's impossible to judge a person just by being online.

I mean there's enough on here for example that I just no if I met them in person they be different people.

So ya meeting someone at a boards beers fair enough meeting someone after talking to them online for little while fine but spending ages on here basing everything you know about each other just threw this and maybe then meeting up a lot different.

You should have clarified that. I don't know anyone who is in a relationship that has never actually met the person.

Well look at the thread title and so on.

Theres plenty of people who meet someone online and talk to them for ages before meeting them for whatever reason. Its not for me personally thats why i think its a bit sad but ya others do it i would get bored.

Anyway ya meeting someone fairly early on is a lot different and often works fine because you get to break the ice without the awkwardness face to face then take it from there in person which is why i said its best to do it early.

I haven't met any of the users I talk to. :o I'm hoping to sometime soon but I'd still consider them my friends even though I never met them. I don't see anything wrong with talking to people for a long time before meeting them/getting involved.

Different strokes for different folks. Although, it's a bit judgemental to label them all pathetic losers just because you don't agree with it or it's not for you.

I didnt label them all anything theres the extreme ones and the less extreme ones. if your gonna get into a full on relationship basically going by what you know of someone on here its a lot different.

Your obviously different to me in many many ways so different views etc etc

The way we all talk to each other on here is an example. Look at how some pick me up at times? They use my username or avatar and go from there. If you met me in person and seen me and so on you would never know who i was unless you went threw everything about me on here.

I am the same person on here and in person but it comes across different in person.

So none of you get to know someone for real until your with them in the flesh and even then.

Sure some of yous if i went on your boards personalitys alone id never look at yous in person but again you could be different people in the flesh!.
