Yes - the full book will be for his show, it'll cover to the end of September and he's on since September 2nd last year.

6 months for neil prenderville at redfm. Should be well up. Compairing face book hits between neil and pj neil gets way more likes and coments etc altugh I do relise red fms younger audience are more facebook savvy.

The better comparison is PJs traffic to Neils old traffic and the same on Red - although its a different type of show to that slot before on Red.

They'll be up, almost certainly, but probably not as much as Red wanted.

I predict red fm prenderville 50000 and pj on 96fm to drop to 70000 listeners. A full 6 months now in this book.

Well done Pat Kenny, that's a huge jump both for the timeslot and Newstalk and breakfast makes massive gains too.

Tubridy up too and Nicky Byrne

Still not up yet. It takes a while to post up, mainly due to the many stations. Give it an hour and it should be up.

Jesus, that's some going by NewsTalk!

    32k increase for Breakfast?
65k increase for Pat Kenny (realistically it's about a 90k increase since PK started as Tom was hovering around the 55k mark for a while)

With The Right Hook going from being the station's flagship show to the 4th most listened to show on the station in a year, are George's days numbered?

EDIT:  Just looked at the RTE tabs.

Y'know, I hate to say it, but I'm really happy to see all those minuses at 2FM again. It sort of vindicates my own feelings on the new lineup...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭blue4ever

Just if there's a 'stato' about. The Tubs figure is mystifying in some respects:

    See thr 2FM tab here

    http://www.ilevel.ie/media-blog/radio/jnlr-2014-q4-station-programmes

The numbers indicate up but the hour graph - 2014 being in red shpws a possible decline

Is it something ins the bowls of the Averages/ long stay short stay etc?

Well...yes they are. He's retiring next year.:P Look's like he's going at right time, for the station anyway. That couldn't have been said until very recently.

Is it though? I wonder what sort of replacement they have lined up. You could say Right Hook figures are still pretty good considering it's up against two very similar and long-established shows...

Very bad figures for 2fm, All shows apart from Tubridy are down 10+% as a result of Dan the man's changes, at this rate 4fm will soon overtake them. Tony Fentons long and continuing absence has caused a big drop in the ratings for the 2.30pm show on today fm

True, but given Pat Kenny's impact I'd wouldn't be surprised if Newstalk tried to poach someone else from RTE next year to replace George.

Or maybe Matt Cooper will move to NT and Louise Duffy will get Cooper's slot when Tony Fenton returns...

and the replacement show falls 19% in listeners:

Is anyone surprised? The station doesnt have a clear direction. It supposed to be RTE 1 for young people, but it has the most dry topics and extremely poor taste in Music. I dont know a single young person that listens to it in Dublin. Most people listen to Spin 1038 or FM104.

RTE seem to think a re-shuttle now and again is the solution for 2FM.But realistically they need to completely change all the presenters and its dated format. It needs to be a radio show for 2014 and not a refreshed version of a 1980s radio station that it is

100,000 listerners is pathetic for a nationsl breakfast show.
How many listeners did Colm Hayes loose?

Anythings better than Hector at that hour of the morning.

What did Dan Healy say to upset Ian Demspey? I see he had a snap at him on Twitter today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,504 ✭✭✭bbability

It's ok I found it in the Indo. Is Dan Healy looking for a job in Irish Water? What a statement to make when his radio stations flagship show has only 100k listening in at the most important time of the day! I think Marty Whelan had 227,000 at one stage in that slot. A he was a middle aged man and he was only one wage, not three! Someone seriously needs to get a grip.

Up 9,000 to 49,000 year on year.

Impressive gains in fairness, and those figures make them the most listened to show at that time by a rather large margin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 431 ✭✭6781

How do they come up with these figures? Is it a random sample and estimated or something else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36 stephenireland

2FM will not ever come back.....there is no strategy a station that has Larry Gogan - a guy I so respect - a poor sports programme being destroyed by Off the Ball............interesting Will Leahy on Saturdays increased audience ....why was he left go ....was it because of his day job?

Colm Hayes down by 10%. Dan Healy's plan really worked didn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,079 ✭✭✭iseegirls

Dublin Talks for 98FM seems to have picked up a few more listeners than last years book. But it takes a dive once it's finished. Wonder would they be better off increasing it to 1pm.
The fall of listeners from 4-7 showed that Dermot & Dave wasn't working anymore, so I'm sure they weren't that gutted when they left for Today FM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭eiresandra

Tubridy's increase aside, there can be no denying that this latest 2FM incarnation is an utter failure. Which is what everyone predicted when they saw the schedule and heard the first shows.

Breakfast down to 100k. Hayes down by 10%. Nicky & Jenny down BOB. Non-existant audience at night. Falling behind Newstalk to No.4 National Station. Behind 4FM in Cork & Limerick. And despite their attempts to sacrifice the older audience to target 15-34yos and compete with Spin, i, Beat; in the franchise areas I looked at, they were down in 15-34.

I don't believe it can be saved at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭vince

In cork, red fm for niel prenderville climbs from 26000 to 50000 and pj cogan 96fm falls from 116000 to 71000 altough pj said this morning he had 86000 listeners which is the figure I saw anounced in august. Figures ive seen in press. Just shows when a guy changes ship niel or pat kenny you dont take all your fans.

Dunno about you, but this ordinary listener has gone off Pat Kenny - I know Newstalk have to turn a bob, but I find the advertorial content is a turn off.

i think it can if it goes for the older audience. people like colm and larry are competent presenters, but not for a young audience. a BBC radio 2 type service could work well if done right. if they insist on targeting younger listeners, then a BBC radio 1 type service could work, again if done right. but none of this is going to happen and business as usual will continue. 2FM could be something good, but instead its ploding along with no direction, with no idea who its audience should be or who the audience is . what a shame for a once great station

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.
