When making comparisons on the Internet, you used to use Hitler. Hitler this, Hitler that, Hitler so on. Now I'm seeing ISIS being used in the same context fairly often. So, have we done it, AH? Have we finally found something worse than Hitler?

No because Hitler was actually popular before he turned on the world.

Hitler didn't keep changing his name every few months though so I think he'll maintain his position as the fallback lazy reference.

Brand consistency people. It's all about brand consistency in today's market.

In Ireland we mostly use the British as our version. Too right aswell as they're the fellas who inspired Hitler!

Tailored epaulets and polished jackboots versus student beards and dusty turbans.

    No contest.

Did you ever consider teaching history at University level?

Second hand smoking took at least 5 of them I heard.

No. Maybe I should though, teach everyone about Hitlers influences.

No hip mustache's, no Hugo Boss suits. ISIS aren't quite there yet.

And plus the whole Adolf being one person and ISIS being a group of peoples.

I suppose we will have to wait until they get their first gas bill before we can decide either way.

Well you need to use a turn of phrase which indicates something larger, man. A couple generally means 'two'.
I'd blame Stalin for a fair few of those deaths.

I'm sure given a few years we'll be blaming ISIS too.

So from now on, what do we call it when somebody calls ISIS on a thread (a la Godwin)?

"Fcuk you, you are worse than ISIS"

" Ooh, Isised in 2 pages, that must be a record"

    He's the old-new Hitler.

ISIS are fresher and spicier....(just like Hitler)

Hitler is going to go ballistic when he hears he's being replaced by ISIS.

Keitel, Jodl and Krebs will be kicked out as he yells "sie ist ohne Ehre!" or "ISIS are douchbags!"

More interesting question were the UDA & UVF fighting a Jihad. After all they killed & decapitated members of a different religion just like ISIS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Tbh, no-one can remember the name of whoever is the leader for ISIS.

ISIS are the new Al Quaeda. Al Quaeda was the new bogey-man. Therefore, ISIS are the new bogeyman. Hitler being the really old bogey-man, with a tache. It's all about the bogey.

If they did,you definitely wouldn't want to be talking to Chris Eubank about current events.

You are forgetting about some of the Mexican drug cartels that conduct hundreds of beheadings, decapitations & have killed over 57 journalists since 2006
