Tools For Choosing Plates Sizes?

    My maths skills are pretty limited....and I'm a little embarrassed to admit, I sometimes struggle to find the optimal arrangement of plates when I go to the gym.

    I'm still a beginner - but I've been lifting for a few months and I've got a routine. For example tomorrow - I'm meant to squat:
    51x5
    64x5
    76x5
    89x5
    102x5

    And then bench:
    36x5
    45x5
    54x5
    63x5
    72x5

    Is there smart phone app/website that will tell me the optimal arrangement for plates, given a set of desired weights? My gym doesn't have 'microplates' or whatever, so I know I need to round to the nearest 2.5 weight interval - but I'd really if I could just know, I need '2 15kg plates / 2 5kg plates and 2 2.5kg plates' so I could gather them up before I get started.

    If you search "powerlifting plate load software" or "powerlifting plate load chart" you should get a ton.

    Here's what you need tomorrow (all "per side" and include 20kg barbell)

    51x5 - 15kg
    64x5 - 20kg, 2.5kg
    76x5 - 20kg, 5kg, 2.5kg
    89x5 - 20kg, 15kg
    102x5 - 20kg, 20k, 1.25kg

    And then bench:
    36x5 - 5kg, 2.5kg
    45x5 - 10kg, 2.5kg
    54x5 - 15kg, 2.5kg
    63x5 - 20kg, 1.25kg
    72x5 - 20kg, 5kg, 1.25kg

    Once you know what to search for it's pretty easy to find :)

    PS - the general rule for nothing a plate hog wanker is you should always try use the minimum number of plates

    +1. OP don't be the guy who decides to use all the 2.5kg plates in the gym because he's moving up sets in small increments. Everyone hates that guy!

    Could prob set it so it rounds to nearest 5kg/2.5kg

    That's what I was thinking. If it is, this will help, awkward but faster in the end

    lets the formula in the excel formula bar is '=A8*0.9'

    Change it to '=MROUND((A8*0.9),2.5)'

    This will round it to the nearest 2.5

    (Obviously you can change the 2.5 to whatever multiple you want though)
