How does one get the text message?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,406 ✭✭✭ike

Sign up via their family and friends club Link.

You'll get a text every so often, (usuallu once a month) you just need to show them the txt on your phone

If you know someone who has the text get them to forward it to you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,218 ✭✭✭bren2001

If someone wants to forward me the text, I'd appreciate that. Obviously done through PM, Ill then forward it on to the next person.

Was in there today, had gotten the text sent on to me from mammy and changed the senders name to woodies. Anyways, they didn't even look at it and gave me 5 or 6 vouchers to give out to whoever.
At till i was pullibg out my phobe and she said oh you have the text right... Galway wellpark store. Spent 128 yoyos so happy enough.

Not on already discounted items though. Was there tonight trying to buy a €60 item that has been for sale at that discounted price for at least four weeks. Its not included in the 20% sale.
Bit awkward trying to figure out what is included.
Was thinking of buying briquettes there, currently on offer at 5 for €20. However since I assumed this is an already discounted price I gave up.

Are briquettes at that price in all of them ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,361 ✭✭✭Boskowski

I suppose that makes woodies only about 80% overpriced then.

You are not getting a true 20% off as their prices are so over inflated.
Also all this "not valid" on this that and the other.Give me a break.
At least with BnQ its "20% off on Everything".

Their Christmas lights and trees are so overpriced and when you take 20% off they are still way overpriced.
But if some people want to "believe" that they are getting a bargain then sure work away and waste your money.Woodies are not good value, you may think they are good value, but fact is that they arent. And when they exclude so many items from their 20% off weekends it makes it even more of a joke. But some people will fall for it and waste their money.

I have mentioned it before, but it is very timely for Christmas.....the boxes of 24 Duracell AA or AAA batteries are 11.99 euro but with 20% off they are 9.60...... cheap as i have ever seen them

For anyone looking for bargain christmas lights, tesco are currently selling boxes of indoor/outdoor 240 clear led lights and indoor/outdoor 240 coloured led lights for 17 euro.120 led light sets going for 10 euro
Woodies are charging alot more than that, even with their 20% off.

You have made your point, if you don't like Woodies that much I suggest you post in a thread that isn't all about Woodies.

B&Q are often 30-50% dearer on the stuff I buy, I'd rather 20% off a lower baseline.

Local builders merchants are much cheaper again, though.

If you can prove the price in a builder merchants then bnq match it and then give you another 10% off that price. Its a case of shop around and know what prices are like in each store for the specific items you want to buy.

You really have a hard-on for BnQ, we get it you love them and seem to hate Woodies.

The idea of bargain alerts is to find out where the cheapest stuff is!! If woodies are dearer and someone suggests a cheaper option for the same thing then happy days.

But he isn't doing that, he's making sweeping generalisations that woodies is always dearer than BnQ by x amount. Even after a mod has asked him to take his BnQ love elsewhere he's keep on with it.

Other alternatives to B&Q are mentioned too though.Co-ops,builders merchants,EuroGiant and Tesco are suggested so i don't think it's a love for B&Q anyway. Wherever the bargain is

Exactly, wherever the bargain is.as Ive posted some bargains myself allready.
Homestore & More are way cheaper for Christmas lights than Woodies are,and thats even with Woodies 20% off.
A 9 led torch is 3 euro 49 cents in Woodies.Tesco are selling Rolson 9 led torches off for 49 cents at the moment.Lots of people whipping them off the shelves.
So yes you are right to say wherever the bargain is.

Exactly, thought I was helping out,but obviously not.Another poster said on page 1 of this thread that it makes Woodies 80% more expensive, but I dont see people jumping down his throat over it.

30% off selected fake christmas trees and christmas lights in Woodies Drogheda at the moment.Might be a bargain there for someone.
I was in there this afternoon pricing a 2 meter long 6 gang extension lead,it is 14 euro in Woodies, but it only 7 euro in Homestore & More.
