Just looking for some advice around what I should do with a couple if hundred hp shares I have. I have these shares over 10 years from when I used to work there and had just parked them for a rainy day. Now with the company due to split into 2, a services company and hardware company I'm wondering what should I do with the shares?

What normally happens when a company splits? Are the shares likely to rise or fall? What normally happens in such circumstances? My hunch is that the enterprise and services company will do well but that the hardware and printing company will struggle and may eventually be broken up and sold. I know little about investments and am just looking for some general advice here... Sell or hold? My head tells me to sell... Is there any reason to suggest that id be mad to do so?

    Any advice greatly appreciated....

There is no hard and fast rule about these things but the directors obviously think the overall enterprise value of the company will increase however if you only have a small number of shares then any increase in the value of the company maybe eaten up by increased dealing charges.
