Ulster: 15 Louis Ludik, 14 Andrew Trimble, 13 Jared Payne, 12 Stuart McCloskey, 11 Tommy Bowe, 10 Ian Humphreys, 9 Paul Marshall,
8 Nick Williams, 7 Chris Henry, 6 Robbie Diack, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Alan O'Connor, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Rory Best (c), 1 Andrew Warwick.

Replacements: 16 Rob Herring, 17 Callum Black, 18 Bronson Ross, 19 Lewis Stevenson, 20 Roger Wilson, 21 Michael Heaney, 22 Stuart Olding, 23 Craig Gilroy.

Glasgow: 15 Peter Murchie, 14 Sean Maitland, 13 Mark Bennett, 12 Peter Horne, 11 Tommy Seymour, 10 Finn Russell, 9 Henry Pyrgos,
8 Josh Strauss (c), 7 Chris Fusaro, 6 Rob Harley, 5 Leone Nakarawa, 4 Tim Swinson, 3 Euan Murray, 2 Fraser Brown, 1 Gordon Reid.

Replacements: 16 Dougie Hall, 17 Jerry Yanuyanutawa, 18 Zander Fagerson, 19 Jonny Gray, 20 Adam Ashe, 21 Niko Matawalu, 22 James Downey, 23 Sean Lamont.

    Date: Saturday, October 11
    Venue: Ravenhill
    Kick-off: 17:05 local (16:05 GMT)
    Referee: Nigel Owens (Wales)
Assistant Referees: Nigel Correll (Ireland), Paul Haycock (Ireland)
    TMO: Simon McDowell (Ireland)

This should be an absolute cracker. It will be a bit strange to watch an Ulster league match on Saturday afternoon and Glasgow have been the form team in the league. Nakarawa and Niko the headcase are worth watching alone!

    Glasgow
Ulster's first major test this season. Will give indication of where they are at at this point in the season. I expect a very tight encounter with only a score between the teams. Hopefully Ulster to edge this with home advantage.

Ha, if it was mine I wouldn't be silly enough to have it on during Rugby season. ;)

    You're single, right?

Very tough test for Ulster, looking at the teams, you'd slightly favour Glasgow but it will be tight, that's for sure.

Stuart Hogg still very much on the naughty step by the looks of it, a shame that a talented guy is going to waste.

Well no, but sometimes I wish... like this weeekend... being dragged away from playing and watching rugby to go to HER friends wedding.

Well, no worries, I'll let every guest know about my displeasure..

Ah I'd have ulster as favourites, but only because it's in Ravenspanhillwhatever

Not sure I'd agree with the first bit, but it will be tight.

You think? He's played 80 minutes in the last three weeks, maybe they are just resting him.

Yeah, fair point, but this is the biggest test that Glasgow have come up against this season and he's not even in the 23? I dunno, he could just be rested but it would be an odd one.

    It's mad that he's still only 22.

Maybe suggests Glasgow are more focused on Europe, the start they have made maybe allows for this. Ulster need the win tomorrow more than Glasgow.

I reckon it will require a big game from Humphries and a radical improvement from Payne for Ulster to win this, plus Henry will need to be on top of his game.

"Wait till you see McCloskey get up and smash that ruck".

..doesn't have any interaction with the ruck at all.

Ulster 12-6 up and Nakarawa in the bin for intercepting in an offside position.

The commentators have been woeful. Bring back Big Jim.

I like the Sky commentators personally. Certainly like them more than Jim, but I suppose it's different if you're an Ulster supporter.

At least Agent Constable isn't on with Sky.

I would say this is true, I do get a nice homely feeling from listening to Jim.

First time I've seen the new changing rooms, very slick.

Gilroy butchered that last opportunity, has the ball near the gainline against a scrambling defence and decides to pass it to a 2nd row 5 metres behind him who'd no choice but to go for contact. Sums him up as a player, lots of talent but lacks the decision making that the top players have.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 496 ✭✭George Hook

I guess that's the sort of thing that comes with game time shuffol, so hopefully he will get better.

Anyone see why trimble went off for gilroy? Ireland and ulster are gonna want him fit!

Williams has his silly head on today - he might be subbed soon.

Has Lamont had a fair few concussions already in his career?

Bowe will be pretty disappointed in that knock on.

Bugger the quick feet. He'd have been better off straightening.

Glasgow are like Leinster '11 without the real top quality. They do so much good stuff and are so well organised but they make a lot of stupid mistakes and don't have the same sort of killer instinct. Probably still the best team in the league on their day though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 496 ✭✭George Hook

Haha best dragged out of the ruck!

McCloskey moves like a guy much smaller. Very agile and has a lovely, soft offload.

McCloskey - a man for 2015 Ireland ? or good enough to be considered now ?

Given how up in the air our centre options are, I don't see why his name shouldn't be included in the wider squad immediately. He's starting, he's playing well and looks like he'll be first choice in some big European games coming up which will tell us more.

He has a real natural subtle way of standing up players and can really move when he spots an opportunity, I actually think he moves almost identically as Payne except he's 2 inches taller and 2 stones heavier.

Schmidt does like his big guys at 12. I would be very interested to see Olding outside him

This is only his 5th start in the Pro12 in 2 seasons, only his third game this season, so he's very raw.

He is but people are calling for Olding who is scarcely more experienced. Marshall is hardly an old hand either. If the guys starts in the next two European games and maintains the level of performance that he has been showing (which has been impressive in both defence and attack), then I say lets have a look. He's already on the radar and was starting for Emerging Ireland over the summer.

I suspect he'll have to wait a far bit longer, however.

Good man, Gilroy. That should take the LBP away from Glasgow.
