Anybody ever experience kidney issues from their increased protein intake? Is it a myth?

    No.

    Yes.

Unless you are pre disposed to kidney damage and/or have a weakened renal system in general.

There is no doubt that that 2.5-3G of protein per kg of lbm or indeed BW will put extra workload on the kidneys BUT, you have two kidneys and you COUlD easily survive an average protein intake with just the one kidney so.....

I go back to my original two answers.

Nobody ever needed a kidney transplant from eating too much meat.
What has ruined people kidneys and left them needing transplants and dialysis is ibuprofen and similar painkillers. It's not highlighted anywhere near enough the damage that they do on a regular basis

Pro bodybuilders eat lots of protein and take lots of steroids/diuretics. Steroids/diuretics CAN cause renal damage. Pro bodybuilders get kidney damage. They can't say it was the steroids/diuretics.....which means?

I suffer from hyperuricemia so I don't go overboard with protein in general - between 1.2 and 1.5 x bodyweight kg.

I'd have red meat about twice a month and eat mainly poultry and fish.

Try to limit meat intake to once or twice a day max - just so I force myself to eat more vegetables. :)

Would protein supplements be more / less demanding on the kidneys?

No significant difference either way in a normal person at normal intake levels.

You could polarize it and start an argument. But in the real world it doesn't matter.

Just don't take 3 scoops, and you'll be fine

it is not a myth,,my advice is:
1- don't take high protein dosage (Max 2-3 scoops per day)
2- drink daily a can of 0% alcohol beer, this really washes your kidneys
    3- water,water,and water,, don't stop drinking water,,

    Is that a joke?

I think the water thing might be part of the problem as I do actually have kidney problems that are still being diagnosed.
